Liverpool vs. Tottenham Betting Tips: 18/1 bet-builder treble from our stats deep dive
It can't happen can it? That unprecedented quadruple is getting closer and closer for Liverpool after they cruised into the final of the Champions League, despite a first half scare against Villarreal. One of their biggest stumbling blocks in achieving that magnificent feat could be the visit of Spurs to Anfield for this huge Premier League clash. We will have a full match preview and best bets on the site from our regular tipsters, but we've also asked our statto @OddsT3rrier to take a deep dive into the recent history between the two sides, and look into this season's stats to see if there are any angles which you can use to your betting advantage. He's also selected three picks and combined them into a 18/1 bet-builder for you.
Liverpool vs. Tottenham Tips
The Reds have been the dominant force in this fixture over the years, winning 84 times, drawing 44 and losing just 48 times. This has been more apparent in recent times with Liverpool winning seven of the last eight match-ups between the sides in all competitions. Spurs last win was back in October 2017 - a 4-1 mauling, thanks to a Harry Kane brace and goals from Son and Alli.
The two have faced off in just one cup final, the 1982 League Cup, where Liverpool won 3-1 thank to goals from Ian Rush and a Ronnie Whelan double. The first meeting between the two clubs was way back in 1909, a 1-0 win for Tottenham.
Here are the last six results between the sides in all competitions:

As usual our first area to dive into is the 'to be carded' markets.
For Liverpool, one man that stands out here is Sadio Mané who leads the Reds for fouls and is second behind only Fabinho for yellow cards. Mané picked up a yellow card in both his last two games against Everton and Newcastle and his all action pressing style can sometimes lead to late challenges and cautions. As the false no.9 here, he will be up against combative centre backs in Romero, Dier and Davies. The 5/1 on offer looks very tempting.
As for Spurs and Romero is the obvious candidate with 27 fouls, 61 tackles and eight yellows. He is short at 13/8 though and there may be value available elsewhere. I prefer the 15/4 on Rodrigo Bentancur who has picked up five yellows in just 12 starts, including four in his last five matches. The 24-year-old Uruguayan has form for cautions picking up 22 cards in his last three years at Juventus in just 73 starts. The 15/4 implies a 21% chance of him being booked but the stats from this season imply a 41% chance and over the last three seasons reflect a 30% chance. This one looks extremely good value when considering he is up against Fabinho, Thaigo and Henderson.
We move into the shots/goals markets and on this one Liverpool are noticeably shorter, reflecting their match odds of 4/9. The likes of Salah, Jota and Mane are all hugely odds on to notch a shot on target, but its the man who changed the game for the Reds on Tuesday evening that I like the look of. After starting from the bench, Luis Díaz sparked Liverpool into life and will surely start here? He is a tasty 31/20 to have 2+ shots on target - a line he has cleared four times in his eight starts, three of those at Anfield.
For Spurs and we can't really look past that dynamic duo - Son and Kane. Kane broke a five match scoreless drought last time out with a goal and three shots on target versus Leicester and he is 23/10 to get on the scoresheet here. For me though, Heung-Min Son represents far better value. He is on a tear right now, scoring eight goals in his last six games and has ten shots on target in that time. The 8/13 for him to have a shot on target looks exceptional value.
I've combined the three picks above on Bentancur, Diaz and Son which pays 18/1 at bet365 using their bet builder feature.
If you are hopping on board then good luck and gamble responsibly. If you like the look of something else of your own choosing then remember Paddy Power are handing out a free £5 bet-builder on this match. The link is above!
