Leicester vs Liverpool Odds: Goals on the horizon in Leicester vs Liverpool

We’re in that weird lull between Christmas and New Year where the only way I know what day it is, is based on which football games are on - this Tuesday, Leicester welcome Liverpool to the King Power Stadium for one of the standout games among the festive fixtures.
The Foxes were in the seasonal spirit on Boxing Day, crumbling at the Etihad Stadium as they gift wrapped six goals for table-topping Manchester City.
Youri Tielemans was in a particularly generous mood, giving away two penalties in 11 minutes as the hosts raced out to a 4-0 lead inside half an hour.
Leicester were dragged back into the game by James Maddison and Kelechi Iheanacho - who cut City’s lead to 4-3 with 25 minutes still to play - but were two behind again within four minutes at the hands of Aymeric Laporte.
Raheem Sterling added a sixth late on to extend his sublime scoring form to five in his last four Premier League games and extend City’s lead at the top of the table to six points, though Liverpool will be looking to cut that deficit today.
The Reds didn’t play on St.Stephen’s Day (their game with Leeds falling victim to COVID protocols) so should be much fresher than their opponents here.
A cohort of squad players were enough to dump the Foxes out of the League Cup last Wednesday, fighting back from 3-1 down to progress on penalties after Takumi Minamino’s 95th minute equaliser, so their stars have essentially had 10 days off to prepare for this game.
Leicester vs Liverpool Tips
That game was yet another example of the defensive fragility of Brendan Rodgers’ side, and has been indicative of their failings so far this season.
They’ve kept one clean sheet since the opening weekend of the year, and have conceded an average of 1.94 goals per game - not ideal heading into an encounter with the division’s most potent offense.
Led by the irresistible Mohamed Salah, the Reds are averaging 2.77 goals scored per game in the Premier League this season and have scored at least twice in 22 of their last 24 in all competitions.
Salah himself is averaging almost a goal per game (0.92) in all comps, chipping in with an impressive nine assists, and will relish the prospect of facing a depleted, leaking Leicester back-line.
Ryan Bertrand became the latest addition to their long, defensive injury list, joining Ricardo Pereira and Calgary Soyuncu as recent additions to the Foxes absentees.
That trio join Jonny Evans, James Justin, and Wesley Fofana on the sidelines - leaving just Daniel Amartey and Jan Vestergaard as their only senior centre-back options, while they’ll also have to wait on the fitness of defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
At the other end of the pitch, Patson Daka and Harvey Barnes look set to miss out whilst Jamie Vardy faces a race to be fit.
While the injury news is bleak for Leicester, the complete opposite can be said for Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp is able to welcome back Virgil Van Dijk, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, and Curtis Jones from COVID protocols; though Andy Robertson misses out due to suspension for his red card in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
Leicester vs Liverpool Odds
While Salah has been the man grabbing the headlines for Liverpool’s attacking prowess (and rightly so), Diogo Jota has been quietly chipping in with goals of his own.
The Portuguese forward has bagged six in his last six starts in the Premier League, and has found the net in each of his Liverpool appearances against Leicester.
Leicester’s defensive woes are well documented but it’s overshadowed what has been an incredible month or so going forward for the Foxes.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have scored 10 goals in their last three games (and 22 in their last 8) and a driving force behind that has been the inevitable return to form of James Maddison.
‘Madders’ has six goals and five assists in his last eight starts in all competitions, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him find the net once again here.
I’m also adding Salah to score to the other two selections, which beefs it up to an 18/1 treble at bet365.
I’m expecting lots of goals here between two of the best attacks in the league, so wouldn’t be surprised to see Both Teams Score 2+ at 3/1 with Betfair.
