A run of just one win in five for Leeds United has meant that their automatic-promotion hopes are in the hands of Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town this weekend.
The Whites are three points behind the Tractor Boys, but a win for Daniel Farke's side and a Huddersfield victory would mean that Leeds return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
While that is unlikely, Leeds have to put everything on the line in order to get the victory, and having home advantage will be crucial to that.
Leeds have only lost once at home this season, although that did come last time out at Elland Road against Blackburn Rovers.
The Whites' only victory in their last five came against Middlesbrough in a narrow 4-3 success, while Southampton have lost three in a row under coach Russell Martin.
Leeds vs Southampton Tips
Leeds have to do their part before they can even dream about scorelines from elsewhere, and a packed Elland Road should at least give them a push in the right direction.
Farke's side have the best home record in the Championship, but they have been vulnerable at the back of late.
Leeds have only kept one clean sheet in their last seven, and the fact they have conceded eight goals in three matches suggests they have issues in defence.
Thankfully for them, so do Southampton. The Saints have also conceded eight in their last three games in the second tier, and it is hard to see them getting a result, especially when they have only scored once in those three defeats.
With Leeds pushing for a victory, the corner count should be high at Elland Road on Saturday.
Leeds have averaged seven corners per game across the season at Elland Road, while Southampton have averaged 7.5 on the road.
Games involving Southampton have averaged 7.53 corners per game, the highest in the division, and this match should follow a similar pattern.
For Leeds to settle, they will need to bombard the Southampton defence, hoping that Huddersfield can do them a favour against Ipswich.
With that in mind, the corner count should certainly increase, and we expect both teams to chip in and cover the line this weekend.
