League One Top Scorer Odds 2023/24: Clarke-Harris favourite once again
The 2023/24 League One campaign begins on Saturday 5th August with punters preparing their ante-post selections in the final few days before the new season. Today at BettingOdds.com we’ve taken a look at the latest odds to be crowned top-scorer in the division.
Jonson Clarke-Harris: 5/1
Peterborough's Jonson Clarke-Harris was the favourite in this market 12 months ago priced at 7/1, before going on to be crowned top-scorer with 27 goals. Clarke-Harris averaged 0.58 goals per 90 minutes last term, and the bookmakers once again make him the favourite to win the award, priced at 5/1.
Colby Bishop: 9/1
Colby Bishop was another forward who managed 20 goals in 2022/23, with only three players in the League bagging more. Pompey are fancied to do well this season, priced at just 3/1 for promotion, with Bishop sure to be a key figure in their push back towards the Championship.
Alfie May: 12/1
Cheltenham could only manage a 16th place finish last season, but striker Alfie may was instrumental in keeping them away from relegation by netting 20 goals. May had been priced at 25/1 in the top-scorer market before a ball was kicked, but this time round is much shorter at 12/1.
Kabongo Tshimanga: 14/1
25-year-old Kabongo Tshimanga spent the second half of last season on loan at Peterborough from National League side Chesterfield. This summer he has made the switch permanent and has been chalked up at 14/1 to be the division’s top marksman.
James Collins: 20/1
After signing for Derby County last summer James Collins managed 11 goals in 42 appearances for The Rams. The 32-year-old has 179 league goals in his career and is available to be backed at 20/1 with most firms this season.
Devante Cole: 20/1
Most trusted betting sites have Devante Cole priced at 20/1 in this market, although it is worth mentioning that BetVictor are a stand-out top price at 33’s. The son of Manchester United striker Andy Cole scored 15 league goals for Barnsley last season as they came close to a return to the Championship, only to be beaten by South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off final.
Aaron Collins: 25/1
Bristol Rovers finished 17th in the table last term, but only seven players in the league scored more goals than Aaron Collins. The former Forest Green Rovers forward also provided 11 assists, but can be sided with at 25/1 to win the League One top scorer in 2023/24.
Stephen Humphrys: 25/1
Stephen Humphrys was loaned out to Hearts last season but could only manage three league goals in 19 appearances for the Jambos. The 25-year-old has now returned to the North West and is on show at 25/1 League One top scorer betting.
Charlie Wyke: 25/1
Another Latics forward who is priced at 25/1 is Charlie Wyke. In the 2020/21 campaign Wyke scored 25 goals for Sunderland at this level and will be looking to rediscover some of that form in the forthcoming season.
