League One Winner Odds 2023/24: Portsmouth favourites for the title

Throughout the 2023/24 League One season here BettingOdds.com we'll be keeping tabs on the outright winner odds for the third-tier, which at the time of writing features the likes of Portsmouth, Oxford, and Bolton.
Lets take a closer look at the main contenders in the mix...
Portsmouth - 9/4
Portsmouth appointed John Mousinho as head coach in January with the 36-year-old taking 39 points from 29 matches. Pompey fell seven points short of the top-six last term and with positivity around Fratton Park, they were initially chalked up at 10/1 in the League One winner market.
However, it's no surprise to see that Pompey are top of the betting at 9/4 following a superb unbeaten start to the season. The south coast side are absolutely flying at the summit of the table as they seek Championship football for the first time since 2011/12.
Oxford - 3/1
What a turnaround it's been at Oxford who only just stayed in the division last season, finishing just two points and two places above the dreaded drop zone.
Liam Manning's side began the campaign out at 20/1 for the title, odds which have been slashed to just 3/1. They are right up there with Portsmouth in 2nd spot, and have won more games than any over third-tier club at the time of writing.
Bolton - 7/1
After being 14/1 for League One glory last term, Bolton managed to reach the play-offs but lost out to Barnsley in the semi-finals.
Ian Evatt has brought stability back to the Lancashire club, who were priced at 8/1 for the title before a ball was kicked.
Currently nestled within the play-offs, Bolton are now a touch shorter at 7/1 to go all the way.
Derby - 8/1
Derby missed out on the play-offs by just one point last season, having occupied the automatic places a few months prior.
Manager Paul Warne has been promoted three times from this division with The Rams initially instilled as the 9/2 favourites to lift the title.
Fast-forward to October and they are no longer the frontrunners for glory following a slightly underwhelming start, however, there's a long way to go meaning bookmakers aren't taking any chances at 6/1.
Peterborough - 23/2
Most bookmakers had Posh priced around 10/1 to win the league this season, odds which haven't changed too much come late October 2023.
Darren Ferguson, in his fourth spell, is a master at winning promotion at the club, having achieved this feat four times. Three of those have been from League One up to the Championship, although he's still searching for his first League One title.
Barnsley - 11/1
The Tykes lost out at Wembley in the play-off final due to a heartwrenching 120th-minute goal from Josh Windass, which saw Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday promoted back to the Championship.
Barnsley once again feature in the play-off places right now, but they will be eyeing up an automatic spot this time around, and are 11/1 with most firms to win the league.
Blackpool 16/1
The Tangerines suffered relegation from the Championship last season.
Manager Neil Critchley was promoted with Blackpool from League One two years ago and has his troops knocking on the top-6 door.
There's ground to make up on the league leaders, with the club currently out at 25/1 in the betting, having started the season at 16/1.
Selected Others
After Blackpool, you'll find Steve Evans' Stevenage at 45/1 to win the title, Wycombe and Charlton follow at 50/1, while Joey Barton's Bristol Rovers are next in the running out at 66/1.
