The outcome of this bout will determine the career options available to both fighters. Joyce, 38, the former WBO interim heavyweight champion, returned from consecutive defeats to Zhilei Zhang with a 12th-round stoppage over Kash Ali in his last fight.
As for Chisora, 40, he holds only two wins from his last six trips into the ring. One of these victories did come in his last outing, however, which has at least temporarily curbed shouts for him to retire.
That being said, the stakes are confusing for this one. There appears very little to gain for the winner and not a whole lot that the loser would have to forfeit either, leaving us to question the matchmakers for arranging this particular head-to-head.
Joe Joyce vs Derek Chisora Tips
There's no doubt that the punishing manner of both defeats to Zhilei Zhang declared that Joyce's chin is no longer what it used to be, however, his naive approach can largely be underpinned for the outcome of those fights.
It's likely to have little effect on his tactics for a bout with Chisora, given that both know only one way of fighting - never take a backwards step.
See Joyce's record of 15 knockouts from 16 victories as evidence of this. If 'Juggernaut' can put on a display that makes him look something like the fighter he was only a couple of years ago then Derek Chisora doesn't stand much of a chance.
The 38-year-old, who may still have something left to give to the sport, can take advantage of an opponent who's lost four of his last six fights and only managed to stop the rot with a pair of wins over lesser opponents.
The riches of big-money fights in Saudi Arabia is potentially at stake for Joe Joyce on Saturday, but only by stopping Derek Chisora.
'Del Boy' will happily trade with Joyce and this should suit the Juggernaut's all-action style. Whether this translates into a barnburner or not remains to be seen, especially as losses to Joseph Parker, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk all in the last four years have proven that the 40-year-old isn't at the top level of the sport.
Without world title aspirations, there's not much for Chisora to prove or gain from beating Joyce. The fact that his opponent, two years his junior, isn't exactly a sharp or fast puncher means that this won't be a wipe out in the first few rounds, however, we also don't see it going beyond the halfway stage before Joyce makes his statement.
