James Maddison Next Club Odds: Newcastle reignite their interest in the midfielder

It’s no secret that James Maddison sees himself somewhere other than Leicester City in the future and this January transfer window he could well and truly see himself playing his football elsewhere, whether it be in the Premier League or abroad, we’ve taken a look at the contenders in the market and offered our thoughts on his next move.
Newcastle - 2/1
These days Newcastle are a serious competitor in the Premier League. Yes, they may have spent a fair bit already thanks to their Saudi takeover, but you have to give credit to Eddie Howe and his boys who are putting in a serious shift every time they step foot on the pitch.
Newcastle will only look to further bolster their squad and the addition of James Maddison is one that would benefit them massively.
They previously went in for Maddison when they first got the money but failed to get a deal done, fast forward to today, Leicester are struggling and Newcastle are thriving, Maddison will almost certainly be thrilled to be a part of the Newcastle project and he’s more than likely to get a serious pay rise if he goes over to The Toon.
Newcastle haven’t been playing with an attacking midfielder in recent times and it’s working out for them, but I’m sure things would go even better if they added an additional goal threat from their midfield. Maddison can easily replace Joe Willock in the midfield role and no disrespect to Willock, but I think many would prefer the Leicester man in their midfield.
Newcastle come in as the 2/1 favourites to sign Maddison this window, they were previously under evens but it seems as though Newcastle are not the only party that are interested in him.
If Newcastle are to carry on this stunning run in the Premier League, they’ll definitely need reinforcements and Maddison is not only a player for the new, he’s a player for the future and the prospect of European football is definitely on the cards for the club next season.
Arsenal - 4/1
Despite being top of the Premier League and having a squad that looks to be working together incredibly well, Arsenal are making a decent amount of noise in the transfer market and have been linked with several players already.
Last summer Arsenal were unwilling to meet the £60m asking price for James Maddison who seemingly was all for the move to the Emirates.
The Gunners will be hoping the price tag for the midfielder has changed and if he is available on a cheaper deal, Arsenal will definitely move in for him as they have clearly expressed interest for him in the past.
Arsenal are currently 4/1 to sign the midfielder, they were as short as 1/4 in the summer of 2021 to sign him so who knows, they could finally get the man they’ve been gunning for.
Of course, Arsenal have more than fulfilled their attacking midfielder role with Martin Odegaard being one of the best players in the Premier League this season, but title-winning teams have squad depth and that is exactly what Maddison will bring to Arsenal.
Others
It looks to be a two way battle for Maddison’s signature between Newcastle and Arsenal if he is to move this window. Other teams are priced up in the betting market but there really isn’t much to pick from and they’re all fairly big odds.
Any Italian club, any French club, and Any Spanish club are all priced up at 12/1 each. I doubt we’ll see Maddison play abroad this season, but it would be an interesting prospect and one that could work out for him in the long term.
Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and United are all next in the market at prices north of 25/1. These clubs are not rumoured to be interested in him, and I struggle to see how he’d fit in at all of those clubs.
Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea all have similar players in Maddison’s position and have a decent amount of backup players, Manchester United have unfortunately just lost Donny van de Beek for what could be the rest of the season so they would make more sense, but it’s not a move I see happening.
It'll be interesting to see if James Maddison can make the step up we all know he is capable of whether that be at the top of the Premier League or abroad, he's still only 26 and has a massive career ahead of him.
