Both of these side's hold an unbeaten record at this year's tournament from a combined four group stage matches, winning three, with only Guinea's opening 1-1 draw with Cameroon preventing the pair from holding a 100% record. There are 13 teams more fancied than for Guinea to lift their very first Africa Cup of Nations trophy at 50/1, however, a statement victory over reigning champions Senegal on Tuesday could see that price plummet dramatically.
The National Elephants represent a 29/10 chance to pull off this feat, while the competition's short priced favourites can be backed at 7/5 to do their business as expected over their final group stage opponents. A share of the spoils is given just above a 30% chance of landing at odds of 9/4.
Guinea vs Senegal Tips
The 2021 winners have blitzed their competition so far, handing out 3-0 and 3-1 defeats to Gambia and Cameroon, establishing themselves as the mathematically strongest side at the tournament in addition to their credentials on paper pre tournament.
From this continent, only Morocco (13) are ranked higher than the first-time AFCON winners in 20th, who reached the 2022 World Cup knockout stages and put up an admirable effort against England in their last-16 clash. The Lions of Teranga claimed four wins from six qualifiers to reach these finals and have come out as winners on five of their last seven occasions.
The pair have played each other five times since September 2019, with Senegal remaining triumphant in three of those five head-to-heads. We don't anticipate Guinea being a walkover but Senegal have proven that they possess the requisite to come through this match unscathed and comfortably top Group C heading into the all-important knockout stages.
It's rare to find a player of Sadio Mane's stature and prowess priced so highly in the anytime goalscorer market, no less when his team are favourites to win the game. The 31-year-old former Premier League winger has eight goals from 18 appearances since switching Bayern Munich for endless riches at Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
On the international stage, Mane boasts 39 strikes in 97 appearances, 11 years removed from when Joseph Koto gave the tricky forward his first cap in May 2012. His side's comfortable victory over Gambia on matchday 1 was the only time he's blanked in front of goal for Senegal in his last four outings, providing four goals during this brief run. 2023 was a kind year to him having produced seven goals and three assists across his 10 international appearances.
With one goal to his name already at AFCON 2023, we'd be foolish not to take up the generous 14/5 for Sadio Mane to net again versus Guinea.
