Ghana vs. Uruguay Betting Tips: 12/1 fancy for eagerly anticipated Group H showdown

What a match we have in store over in Group H as Ghana take on Uruguay in a repeat of that hugely dramatic - and controversial - quarter-final back during the 2010 World Cup.
Check out JimmyThePunt's match preview below, which includes his top two tips for this crunchiest of clashes...
Switzerland plays Serbia and Ghana faces Uruguay on the same day!
Friday December 2nd, a football feast laced with plenty of needle and narrative with qualification connotations, setting us for an enthralling conclusion to a group stage in Qatar.
The all European clash has geopolitical tensions, yet the hatred between Ghana and Uruguay is purely football based, which you really do love to see.
For those unaware, it stems from the nations last meeting in Johannesburg at the South African World Cup, July 2nd, 2010. A night etched in World Cup folk law.
Two hours of football played. Nothing to split the sides. The last chance of the game falls to the Black Stars, a goalmouth scramble.
Luis Suarez blocks Stephan Appiah’s close range effort before swatting away Dominic Adiyiah’s goal bound header. Penalty and red card.
The former-Barcelona frontman recoils in shock at the flash of red but cannot hold back the tears as he is escorted towards the tunnel.
Asamoah Gyan stepped up, he’s already scored two spot kicks and bagged the winner in 90+3’ minute against USA to secure their spot in the quarters. If the Sunderland man dispatches this penalty his country becomes the first African side to play in a semi-final of a WC.
It crashes against the bar. Suarez re-emerges from the tunnel in enraptures, his nation's hero as Uruguay go on to win the game on penalties.
According to a Ghanian journalist, many people in Ghana still consider Suarez "the devil himself." So, 12 years on from the original clash and any fears that the bitterness has fizzled away are put to bed.
Ghana right back Tariq Lamptey was only 10, however, Suarez, Edison Cavani, Diego Godin, Martín Cáceres and Andre Ayew were all present that day which hopefully sets us up for a tasty affair at the Al Janoub Stadium.
Ghana vs Uruguay Tips
Ghana’s victory over South Korea puts them in pole position to qualify alongside Portugal.
They obviously need to avoid defeat and equal or better South Korea’s result, and with the Taeguk Warriors playing Portugal, a point should see Ghana through.
La Celeste are yet to score in Qatar, pretty toothless. A combined age of 70, neither one of their veteran frontman Cavani or Suarez have impressed so it is anyone's guess who stars alongside Darwin Nunez here.
Low scoring affairs have been a theme of this competition with 65% of the 40 games seeing less than three goals scored, 55% square at halftime and 58% of the games seeing the most goals scored in the second half.
Given the magnitude of the game, I think at odds against, the highest-scoring half to be the second is the bet at 11/10 with Betfair.
As we enter the last round of group fixtures, this has become more frequent, with this bet landing in each of the last five games.
Given the dynamic of the game, I think it is worth combining Ghana’s keeper, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, to be carded with a Ghana result at 12/1 with bet365.
Domestically, Ati-Zigi has 11 cards to his name. He has only picked up one card for his nation in eight starts, but if Ghana have a result to protect, no doubt he will be pulling out all the stocks to protect it.
Best of luck if you are backing any of these selections and please remember to gamble responsibly.
