Galatasaray have already shown a willingness to take the game to their opponents on home turf in the Champions League.
They showed a great deal of attacking impetus despite losing 3-1 to Bayern Munich at this ground so expect them to go for the jugular against a fragile Manchester United side.
Luke Shaw returned to the fray for United at the weekend but Erik Ten Hag still has a hefty list of injuries to contend with as he attempts to steer his team through a difficult period.
Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia are unavailable at the back. Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount and Casemiro are also ruled out with injury. Marcus Rashford misses this one thanks to the red card he picked up against FC Copenhagen.
Galatasaray vs Manchester United Tips
Manchester United have won five of their last six matches in the Premier League thanks to a favourable run of fixtures and an element of good fortune.
However, a win away to Galatasaray could signal that things have finally started to turn around for a side that has endured a torrid start to the campaign.
Many fancied Erik Ten Hag’s side to struggle at Goodison Park at the weekend but Alejandro Garnacho’s bicycle kick in the opening minutes gave them the platform they needed to go on and secure the win. Everton had plenty of chances in the match and that’s been a theme in all of United’s matches this season.
Their defensive frailties have been particularly evident in the Champions League. They have lost both of their away matches in this competition 4-3 and I’m expecting a glut of goals once again.
Both teams have scored in three of United’s matches in this competition and there has been an average of five goals per game across their four group stage matches. Copenhagen missed a penalty in the dying moments of the game where the both teams to score bet didn’t land.
Galatasaray are averaging 2.09 goals per game across their 11 home matches this season. They have already hosted Bayern Munich, who are the runaway leaders in Group A. The Turkish side scored but were unfortunate not to get more from the game. They had 20 shots and finished the game with an xG of 2.69 as they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat.
We are completing our bet builder by backing over 5.5 goal kicks for Erik Ten Hag’s side. They had nine goal kicks in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford and had a staggering 14 goal kicks in the 3-0 win over Everton at the weekend. The Red Devils are averaging 7.38 goal kicks per away game this season.
We are sticking with goals and goal kicks for our longer odds bet in this clash.
Manchester United’s away matches in all competitions are averaging 3.5 goals per game with both teams scoring 1.75 on average.
Both of Galatasaray’s home matches in the Champions League have seen four goals so we can expect chances here.
This long shot landed when Galatasaray hosted Bayern Munich. The German juggernauts had 16 goal kicks as the home side piled on the pressure. Okan Buruk’s side have forced an average of 12 goal kicks per home game in all competitions since the Turkish top flight kicked off in August.
