There is a real cracker on the Nations League fixture list on Friday 6th September as 2021 victors France take on Euro 2020 winners Italy at the Stade de France.

France vs Italy Predictions
France vs Italy Preview
After a disappointing Euro 2024 for both countries, they can now look for redemption in this tasty Nations League opener.
France may have reached the semi-finals of Euro 2024 but, on the whole, they underperformed throughout the tournament, which they failed to set alight despite the class that oozes from their ranks; with players like Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele you would think that the strength lies in the attack, yet this didn't prove to be the case in Germany where they scored one goal from open play.
Defending champions Italy were even more disappointing. They only sneaked through to the knockout stages at the last minute - thanks to a goal in injury time - then they were outclassed by Switzerland in the last-16. The Italians will now be looking to recover from this set-back and put their name in the news again in a positive way.
France have been installed as the 13/20 favourites with Midnite, Italy are the 9/2 outsiders, while a draw can be backed at 11/4.
Our first tip comes from the half-time market where we're highlighting a draw at 5/4 with Midnite.
A notable trend has emerged regarding half-time draws in matches involving France, as four out of their last five games have been tied at the interval. This trend is indicative of the conservative strategy employed by manager Didier Deschamps, which is evident in five of France's seven matches featuring one goal or fewer; a surprise given the wealth of attacking talent in the squad.
In a similar vein, five of Italy's last nine matches have also ended in a draw at half-time, including two of their last three games.

For our second tip we've pieced together a 6/1 Bet Builder which requires under 2.5 goals, a France win, and Kylian Mbappe to score.
When you analyse the recent results of both countries, this match points towards under 2.5 goals.
Despite their evident talent, France seldom overwhelms their opponents, often prioritising a pragmatic approach over panache. In fact, six of their last seven matches have contained fewer than 2.5 goals, with the only exception being their 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
Similarly, Italy's matches have not been high-scoring, as six of their last seven encounters have also ended with under 2.5 goals.
France are, however, the favourites and I favour the hosts coming out on top for the fourth straight match against Italy, who themselves are without a win in three games.
As always, Kylian Mbappe stands out as the prime candidate in the anytime goalscorer market. The 25-year-old has made an impressive start at Real Madrid, netting three goals in his first five appearances, including a brace in last weekend's 2-0 triumph over Real Betis. His overall record for France stands at 48 goals in 84 games.
