Fantasy Football Tips: Three must-have picks for Gameweek 7
Normal service was resumed last weekend in FPL terms with an average of 68 points indicating a good gameweek for many and now we face the first double gameweek of the season.. Here’s the must-have players for FPL Gameweek 7.
Gameweek 6 Review
The curse of the most transferred in player continued, with Julian Alvarez failing to deliver an attacking return at home to Nottingham Forest in a fixture not helped by the red card for Rodri early in the second half. However defender pick Estupinan grabbed an assist, while Salah registered another double digit haul.
It was a good week for me on the wildcard, ending on 75 points with a clean sweep of returns for my defenders and double digits from Salah and Saka in the attack. I did finish on a very slight red arrow, down 12,000 places in overall rank terms.
Defender: Kieran Trippier vs Burnley (H)
Kieran Trippier was the star man of Gameweek 6 with an 18 point haul against Sheffield United including three assists, a clean sheet and all three bonus points. There’s a similar opportunity for him to deliver big with a home game against Burnley this weekend, who have scored just four goals so far this campaign.
Trippier sits top among defenders for key passes this season with 17, and three of those have been classified as big chances created. He’s taken 21 corners and ten free kicks in this campaign too. Newcastle United have conceded the least number of big chances on their goal this season with six, with clean sheet potential high.
Midfielder: Bukayo Saka vs Bournemouth (A)
Arsenal talisman Bukayo Saka continues to excel this season, having chalked up six attacking returns in the opening six gameweeks: three goals and three assists. He has so many different routes to points with goal threat, set piece involvement and penalties. Arsenal have been awarded a league high of three spot kicks so far this campaign.
Saka’s underlying numbers also carry plenty of promise with a leading tally of four big chances among Arsenal attackers and a league leading total of 19 key passes this season, plus he’s taken 30 corners.. Opponents Bournemouth have conceded seven goals in their last four Premier League games.
Forward: Carlton Morris vs Everton (A) & Burnley (H)
Managers keen to buy a slice of Double Gameweek 7 action should look towards Luton Town striker Carlton Morris ahead of a potential 180 minutes of action. Morris has completed 90 minutes on four of five occasions so far this season, chalking up two goals and one assist in this period.
Morris is on penalties for Luton, converting twice from the penalty spot so far in this campaign, while Everton are one of ten Premier League sides who have conceded a spot-kick this season. Both his opponents are without a clean sheet this campaign, with Burnley conceding 2.6 goals per game on average.
