Tuesday Accumulator Tips
Derby vs Crewe - BTTS
Looking over the statistics of these sides' first meeting in the FA Cup first round, it is insane to see that Crewe managed to snag a draw. What makes it all the more bewildering is that Alexandra actually managed to get into a 2-0 lead by the hour mark, meaning the League 2 side were long odds on to knock out their League 1 opponents. As things transpired, Derby managed to snatch a replay from the jaws of a Cup exit with two late, late goals meaning their minor blushes were spared.
Crewe are a solid well organised outfit and while I do think Derby at home will prove too strong considering their domination in the first tie, I do fancy Alexandra to get on the scoresheet themselves. They are a threat from set pieces, something County struggle with defending, and will be happy to sit in and absorb pressure in the hope of springing a lethal counter-attack.
Derby rotated in the first game and were nearly left red faced, so expect a stronger 11 at Pride Park and that should prove enough, but Crewe have not been kept scoreless in their last six and I expect them to make it 7/7 here.
Horsham vs Barnsley - Barnsley To Win & BTTS
I'm feeling a sense of Déjà vu here, with the only difference in my tip for this game compared to the pick in the first match being that the reasoning for backing it is nothing really to do with the underdogs scoring record, more to do with the sense of occasion for them. Barnsley are by no means firing on all cylinders, and indeed much like Derby they were staring down the barrel of an early exit in the Cup when Isthmian Premier division side Horsham stunned Oakwell by taking a 2-1 lead.
Barnsley saved a slice of their pride in managing to bring the game back to 3-3 by the time it was all said and done, but this was a huge result for the non-league side and now they will fancy their chances of turning over League One's most goal happy outfit when they make the journey down to Horsham's West Sussex home. The Tykes are almost certain to not underestimate their opponents twice and will name a much stronger side, meaning they should get the job done, but I think there is plenty of value in backing an away win and BTTS. This is the biggest game in generations for Horsham and every player in their team will be desperate to score a goal that will be etched into folklore.
Forest Green vs Scarborough - Scarborough To Win
This is the selection that is beefing up my treble, and maybe I'll be cursing my greedy self for not simply backing the underdogs draw no bet or double chance, but at 5/1 Scarborough look a wonderful price to upset a Forest Green side that are doing things tough right now. The hosts are flagging in League 2 right now, coming into this game on the back of being soundly beaten 3-0 by Tranmere.
There are mitigating circumstances for the Vegan club with 12 injuries on the weekend, and while an FA Cup run would be welcome respite, it is not the priority right now. Expect a weakened, rotated side from an already depleted outfit for the visit of Scarborough, who will be smelling blood and itching to win in order to face Blackpool in the next round.
The National League North side are having a brilliant campaign thus far, and won comprehensively 1-3 on the road on the weekend. This means they have now won four of their last five away games in all competitions and I'll be taking some of the 5/1 on offer for them to make it five from six with a good old fashioned Cupset.
