The Toffees took a huge step towards securing their Premier League status for another year by managing their first home league win over Liverpool in 14 years on Wednesday. Goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jarrad Branthwaite gave Everton a 2-0 victory, which now puts them eight points clear of the relegation zone with just four games remaining.
Brentford have managed back-to-back league wins after triumphs over Sheffield United and most recently Luton in a 5-1 demolition job. The Bees are now unbeaten in five top-flight outings and arrive here having the advantage of having no midweek fixture unlike Everton with their Merseyside derby.
Everton vs Brentford Tips
Our first selection is very much a value play in our eyes and we are backing Bryan Mbeumo to have Over 0.5 Shots on Target, along with James Tarkowski to give away at least one foul, at the Dolly Parton price of 9/5. We’ll be using bet365 here and for context, other firms such as Sky Bet have this same double priced odds-on at 10/11.
As mentioned above, Brentford should be raring to go here and after a string of strong showings we think they could have the upper hand against a slightly jaded Everton side. Mbeumo has cleared this line in seven of his last nine league starts and with no Ivan Toney he may be on penalty duty too.
Only Abdoulaye Doucoure has committed more fouls for Everton this season than James Tarkowski. The central-defender has also racked up the most yellow cards for his side this term (9). Across his last seven league matches the former Burnley man has given away a whopping 14 fouls and with his physical approach, we fully expect him to give away at least one here.
At 11/1, we’ve also had some loose change on Yoane Wissa to score and James Tarkowski to give away at least two fouls, again with bet365.
Wissa has bagged five goals in his last five top-flight away games, as many as he had in his previous 29 appearances on the road in the competition. Two of those came in the 5-1 win over Luton and with confidence high he will be looking to continue his purple patch at Goodison on Saturday.
For the second half of this Bet Builder punt we are extending the James Tarkowski line to Over 1.5 fouls. Looking at his foul totals across his last seven matches they read: 3,2,2,2,2,3,0,3. Wissa and Mbeumo can really trouble this Everton defence and combining Tarkowski’s foul line with the inform Brentford striker to score again pays 11/1.
