England v Denmark Betting: Maguire and Maehle to hit the target

The nerves are really starting to kick in for us all here at BettingOdds.com with just hours to go until England’s Semi-Final clash with Denmark at Wembley. I’m sure it will be sore heads and hangovers whichever way the result goes, but all we can do now is have faith in the man who has got every decision right so far, Gareth Southgate.
After England’s 4-0 romping of Ukraine in the Quarter-Finals, the nation expects another big performance. We’ve cast our eye through the betting markets and have picked out a selection that we like the look of based on past player data. After a generous boost by the lads over at Paddy Power, this double now pays 8/1, so have a read below why we’re backing it.
Our new Prince Harry
Prince Harry the Duke of Sussex may have decided to emigrate across the pond, but there’s a new Prince in town as the English public’s love for Harry Maguire continues to grow. The Manchester United captain has been an absolute rock at the back for England in his three performances at this summer’s European Championships and we’re backing him to have a shot on target against Denmark.
In the Premier League last season, Trent Alexander-Arnold was the only defender to attempt more shots than Maguire, who let off 36 in 34 appearances. Big ‘Slab Head’ has in fact hit the target in his last two games, against Germany, followed by a thumping header that resulted in England’s second goal against The Ukraine last Saturday.
Denmark dangerous down the left
A prominent player in Demark’s attacking play throughout the tournament has been Joakim Maehle who has two goals and an assist to his name. The Danes have registered the most shots on target so far at this summer’s Euros, having hit ten more than Italy who have played one game more.
No player in the Danish squad has registered more shots on target than Joakim Maehle who has seen his value rise after some outstanding performances. The Atalanta man has registered a shot on target in four of his five games at Euro 2021, hitting 2+ in three of his five matches.
The Bet
So there we have it, a tasty looking 8/1 double that consists of both Harry Maguire and Joakim Maehle to a shot on target. No player for Denmark has registered more shots on target at the Euros than Maehle who has hit 2+ on three occasions and with Maguire hitting the target in both of his last two games, we think this one has more legs than the 8/1 implies.
Best of luck to those having a punt tonight. The game can be seen live on ITV at 8pm and please gamble responsibly.
