England vs. North Macedonia Betting Tips: Harry Kane tipped at Old Trafford
England take on North Macedonia at Old Trafford on Monday night as they aim to continue their perfect record in Euro 2024 qualifying.
Scott Thornton has previewed the match and picked out two tips.
The Three Lions have won all three of their qualifying matches so far.
This included impressive victories over Italy and Ukraine prior to the 4-0 win over Malta last week.
Southgate’s side have scored eight goals in the group so far. The England manager occasionally faces criticism for negative team selections throughout his tenure. Despite this, goals haven’t been hard to come by in their recent matches.
North Macedonia have picked up three points in their two matches in Group C. They edged past Malta in their opening match but they were beaten 3-2 by Ukraine last week and were reduced to 10 men.
England vs. North Macedonia Tips
England should control the tempo and dominate proceedings against North Macedonia. This should mean that the Three Lions restrict their opponent’s opportunities and have an abundance of chances of their own.
Southgate’s men had 18 shots in their last match on home soil. They should show greater attacking impetus with the backing of the home crowd. They seemed to take their foot off the gas a little on Friday but still managed 16 shots away in Malta.
In the last five matches where England have been similarly priced to this one to win the match outright, the team are averaging 16.4 shots per game. North Macedonia’s last five similar matches also make for good reading. Their opponents are averaging 19 shots per game on that run so it is likely that their goalkeeper will be extremely busy on Monday night.
England gave away just 13 throws in their last match against Malta. Their last game at home saw Ukraine have just nine throws so the Macedonian throws line looks a little high heading into this one. In England’s last five home matches, their opponents are averaging 14 throws per game and only Germany have had more than 16 in a match.
North Macedonia’s recent matches against Malta and Ukraine have seen them win over 25 throws. However, England will have a far greater level of control and should have a stranglehold on possession which will limit the away sides' opportunities to push down the flanks and win throws.
For our longer odds bet, we are going to take the same two angles as the first bet with lines that provide us with longer odds.
Under 13.5 throws for the opposition landed in England’s last home match and in their most recent match against Malta. Southgate’s team are also more than capable of peppering the Macedonian goal as they look to end the season on a high.
We are also adding Harry Kane to score to our bet.
Kane had a great season for Spurs. Only Erling Haaland managed more Premier League goals than England’s all-time top scorer.
Kane has proven his credentials time and time again. His future at Tottenham is unclear with a desire to win silverware leaving him looking for a move away.
However, this hasn’t impacted his form. Kane scored six goals in Tottenham’s last five matches. He also found the net before being substituted after 60 minutes against Malta.
