England Euro 2021 Tips and Betting Odds
Welcome to BettingOdds.com's Euro 2021 profile series, where we'll be counting down to next summer's tournament with an in-depth look a the betting opportunities for each of the countries involved.
All eyes will be on England this summer as Gareth Southgate and his exciting new-look side look to end a 55-year wait for international silverware. There's a great deal of hype surrounding the Three Lions right now with so much attacking talent in the squad, but fears over the manager getting the best out of his players have somewhat clouded many people's expectation that England will win the competition this summer.
Author's Opinion
While optimism is one thing the English are rarely found lacking, winning the European Championships will be a tall order for this fairly inexperienced crop of players. There is certainly hope that the national team can go one step further than the 2018 World Cup, especially with a sprinkling of new world-class personnel in the shape of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.
However, there are questions marks over Southgate's tactics and style of play which I personally think will end up costing this team at the Euros. Setting up too defensively without an identity is somewhat inexcusable when there are so many options at the England coaches disposal so if it continues, which it looks like it probably will, I'm struggling to see the Three Lions get the better of the top sides. I'd certainly oppose them in the betting, 5/1 is far too short a price for a country who haven't won a major tournament since 1966.

Top Three Key Players
Harry Kane
Harry Kane is certainly England's key threat. The Tottenham striker will be eyeing up another goal-laden major tournament following the 2018 World Cup, where he scored six goals to claim the Golden Boot award. The Three Lions' talismanic captain will be relied upon to take care of goalscoring duties at the top of the pitch and defend from the front with a high press. Kane is the final destination that the defence and midfield will build towards supplying in the final third and if he gets the chances, he rarely makes a mistake in the finding the net. the 27-year-old is 7/1 favourite to win the Golden Boot at Euro 2021, and a 16/1 shot in the Player of the Tournament betting.
Jordan Henderson
Jordan Henderson has blossomed into the complete midfielder in recent years and his success with Liverpool has definitely had a positive impact on his performances for England. The Reds' captain is a born leader and will be the centre point of everything at the Euros. Play will go through him and he will be a focal point in the side, especially against the stronger teams as a calm head will be required to break up play and distribute possession. Although injured at the moment, when he is back to fitness Henderson will be a huge player for the Three Lions at Euro 2021.
Raheem Sterling
Sterling has been inconsistent in an England shirt for years but when he is on song he is impossible to contain. Whether it's cutting in from the left onto his favoured right foot or skinning an opposing full-back for pace on the right flank, the Manchester City winger has the ability to create chances from nothing and has developed a great understanding with Kane, one which can really cause harm to any side at the upcoming Championships. He's a 25/1 shot in both the Golden Boot and Golden Ball (Player of the Tournament) betting at the time of writing.
Young Gun
Phil Foden
Manchester City starlet Phil Foden is arguably the brightest young talent around and this season he has really come into his own having seen an increase in playing time at the Etihad. The 20-year-old has all the assets required to be one of the best players in the game and I've no doubt that once Messi and Ronaldo retire, he will become one of - potentially the - best player in world football.
Foden has scored 11 goals and provided nine assists at club level this season and has already scored twice in his five appearances for the senior international side. He is the 4/1 favourite to win the Best Young Player award at Euro 2021, ahead of the likes of Joao Felix, Ferran Torres and his England teammate Jadon Sancho, and should his exceptional form continue into the summer, it's difficult to look past him in this market.
England's Outright Odds At Euro 2021
Alongside World Cup holders France, England are 5/1 joint-favourites to win Euro 2021, ahead of Belgium (11/2), Spain (8/1) and Germany (8/1). The Three Lions are even as short as 9/2 with certain bookmakers!
England's Group Odds At Euro 2021
England are firm favourites to win Group D, priced at 2/5. They are 1/50 just to qualify for the knockout stages and looking at the group they have been placed in it would be remarkable to see them fail to do so.
The Gaffer
Gareth Southgate is the England manager and has been since taking over from Sam Allardyce in 2016. The former U21s boss guided his country to the semi-finals of the World Cup back in 2018, and a year later to the same stage of the UEFA Nations League before exiting the competition after a 3-1 defeat against the Netherlands.
