England vs. Australia Betting Tips: Three bets for Fourth Ashes Test
After Mark Wood and Chris Woakes kept the series alive at Headingley in the third Test, the Ashes moves to Old Trafford in Manchester as England look to achieve the impossible and win the Ashes after going 2-0 down.
The nine-day break in between the two Tests has given everyone some time to breathe but once Wednesday comes the nation will have their eyes glued back on to the Ashes and, if the weather holds, we should be in for another brilliant five days of Test match cricket.
Who are the favourites to win the Fourth Ashes Test?
Like every game in this series so far, the bookies are expecting a close match at Old Trafford.
England are carrying the momentum after a brilliant victory last time around, so are 11/8 favourites, while Australia are slightly longer at 8/5.
The rest will have helped England as it means Stuart Broad is able to keep playing and Mark Wood’s body will have had time to recover.
Both bowlers, plus the returning Jimmy Anderson at his home ground, should give England the advantage, so we’re going with England to win this one.
The Ashes Fourth Test Betting Tips
This series has not gone the way James Anderson would have hoped, with two poor performances in the first two tests which led him to be dropped at Headingley.
Some pundits are suggesting that he is looking every bit his 40 years of age and bringing him back into the side here is a risk.
However, the past five or six years have proved that you can never count out Jimmy, and this week he’ll be running in from the end named after him with leaden Manchester skies above him.
Expect Jimmy to return with a bang, and he represents great value for man of the match at 20/1.
England’s team announcement for this Test match included the somewhat surprising news that Moeen Ali would be continuing batting at No.3 where he failed to make an impact in the second innings at Headingley.
However, they have faith in him and while we’ve seen glimpses of what he can do with both bat and ball in this series, we haven’t seen him properly come off yet.
We know he has the ability and the more permanent shift to No.3 will give him the clarity to execute, and I think the added responsibility could lead to some runs.
The Australia captain has had a brilliant series with the ball and has continually proved why he is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the world.
The forecast in Manchester looks like it’ll be cloudy and stop-start this week and Pat Cummins is lethal when conditions suit him.
He’s only played one Test at Old Trafford before, and he ended that game with figures of 7/103, so he obviously has good memories there.
