Both of these sides arrive here in poor form, with the hosts currently winless in their last eight top-flight matches. That run has seen The Eagles slip to 15th in the table, just three points above Luton in 18th. Roy Hodgson is also the favourite in the Premier League Sack Race, with BetVictor going odds-on that he is the manager to leave his post at 8/13.
After being dismantled by Wolves on Wednesday, Brentford have now suffered four consecutive defeats. The Bees have a long list of absentees for this clash and with no Bryan Mbeumo and Ivan Toney, they lack firepower in the final third. Thomas Frank’s side sit just one place above Crystal Palace heading into Saturday’s encounter, four points above the drop zone.
The hosts are the favourites to collect the three points, priced at 5/4 with most firms to do so. The draw can be backed at 23/10, while a much needed victory for Brentford is chalked-up at 12/5.
Crystal Palace vs Brentford Tips
With both Crystal Palace and Brentford struggling to find any sort of consistency in recent weeks, I’ve decided to steer away from the match result market for my main play of the afternoon. Instead I’ve opted for Jordan Ayew to record Over 0.5 shots on target in the match at an industry best-price of 27/25 with BetMGM.
The last time Ayew appeared at Selhurst Park he recorded two shots on target against Brighton and no Palace player has recorded more attempts on goal on home soil this season. Taking a look at Ayew’s shot data from this campaign and 83% of his shots on target this season have been in home matches with 10 in 9 appearances. With this in mind, I’m surprised to see odds-against available with other betting sites such as William Hill going considerably shorter at 4/7.
At 13/1 I’ve also had a few quid on Michael Olise to score and Christian Norgaard to be carded. Olise has only started six league matches for Roy Hodgson’s side this season due to injury, but has looked sharp in his last few outings. The 22-year-old has scored against Manchester City, Luton and Chelsea this season and looks a generous price to do so at 7/2 against a Brentford side that have not kept a clean sheet since October.
No Brentford player has been booked on more occasions this season than Christian Norgaard. In total, the Dane has been shown seven yellow cards in 17 appearances, with three of those cautions coming in his last four away from the Gtech Community Stadium. Both teams will be desperate to end their winless run on Saturday and combining Olise to score and Norgaard to be carded pays 13/1 with Sky Bet.
