After defeating Middlesbrough 6-1 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening, Chelsea have had just 72 hours to prepare for this clash. The Blues last lifted the FA Cup trophy back in 2018 and they overcame Preston in a rather comfortable manner in the first round with a 4-0 victory. Mauricio Pochettino’s side are the 21/20 favourites to win the game on Friday, while they can be backed at 4/7 to advance to the fifth round.
Aston Villa have the luxury of 12 days since their last outing which came in the form of a 0-0 draw against Everton. Unai Emery’s side sit 12 points above Chelsea in the Premier League table and were victorious when they visited West London and faced Chelsea earlier in the campaign thanks to a solitary Ollie Watkins goal. For those who fancy a repeat on Friday night, Villa can be backed at 12/5 to win the game and 5/4 to be the winners of the tie.
Chelsea vs Aston Villa Tips
For my main bet on Friday evening, I’m backing Chelsea to be caught offsides Over 4.5 times in the match. This is available at 4/5 with BetMGM which may not seem like the most eye-catching of prices, however there is certainly data to justify a case a substantial punt here.
Unai Emery’s side are known for having one of the highest lines in European football and catching their opponents offside has been a regular feature of their play since the Spaniard’s arrival at the club.
This bet for Villa’s opponents to be caught offside over 4 times has landed in five of their last six matches with totals of: 5,6,6,9,4,7. Furthermore, when Villa travelled to Stamford Bridge in September they caught The Blues offside on a whopping 10 occasions and I’ll be hoping they can clear the 4.5 line once again here.
Regular readers of my ramblings here on bettingodds will be aware that I put up Cole Palmer to score and be carded against Middlesbrough on Tuesday. The former Manchester City man found the net twice but unfortunately didn’t find his way into the book. Palmer is putting in some really strong performances at the moment and I’m once again taking the same bet for him to score and be carded, this time at the bigger price of 12/1.
This is a bet that has landed in three of Palmer’s 13 top-flight starts this season and taking a bit of a deeper look at his data, he has scored nine goals across this sample. Furthermore, Palmer has also seen yellow in six of those 13 league starts and with five goals in his last five outings across all competitions, he looks a solid proposition to score and find his way into the book at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
