This is the first of two meetings between these two sides this week, with an FA Cup clash at the Etihad to follow this weekend. It’s now just one win in his last five matches for Graham Potter as Chelsea manager after the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day. Manchester City have the chance to close the gap to leaders Arsenal on Thursday after The Gunners were held to a goalless stalemate by Newcastle on Tuesday. City remain the odds-on favourites at 8/13 to lift the title in May but know they cannot afford to drop more points as they hunt down Arsenal. Pep Guardiola’s side will have been disappointed to have failed to secure maximum points in their two most recent home matches, but will fancy their chances against Chelsea who they have already beaten this season in the League Cup.

The Belgian has been on a good run lately when it comes to shots on target, landing 1+ in all of his last six league matches. Across his last six that he has featured from the off, Foden has registered 11 shots on target and with him being fresh for this one he has the potential to cause the Chelsea back-line serious problems. 

The third and final selection we are including is for Cesar Azpilicueta to be carded. A player whose pace is rapidly declining and has looked a little out of sorts in recent weeks, we feel City may target the Spaniard at right back, with either Jack Grealish or Phil Foden potentially giving him a long evening. Azpilicueta has been booked in three of his eight starts in the Premier League this season and was also cautioned against Manchester City when coming off the bench for 20 minutes when the pair met in the League Cup at the start of November.
