Champions League Winner Odds: PSG favourites after summer signings

The Champions League returns this week and the first round of group fixtures looks one to savour, with Barcelona hosting Bayern Munich and Liverpool taking on AC Milan to name a couple. Here at BettingOdds.com we’ve taken a look at the Champions League Winner Odds for what looks one of the most competitive renewals in recent years.
PSG - 10/3
It’s been quite an incredible summer of recruitment for Paris Saint-Germain with the arrivals of Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Achraf Hakimi and Georginio Wijnaldum. Such lucrative business has propelled the Parisiens into 10/3 favourites with bet365 and with Kylian Mbappe staying put there’s no question that this squad is teaming World Class players capable of winning tournaments such as this. Finding a good balance will be key for Mauricio Pochettino and at 10/3 they look short enough for a side who have never won this competition.
Manchester City - 7/2
Pep Guardiola is still seeking that all elusive Champions League trophy with Manchester City after the heartbreak of defeat in last season’s final against Chelsea. The signing of Jack Grealish will give City an extra edge in the final third this time around and they can be backed at 7/2 to be crowned champions in May. City have been drawn in Group A along with RB Leipzig, Club Brugge and Paris Saint-Germain - who they knocked out at the semi-final stage last season 4-1 on aggregate.
Chelsea - 7/1
At the start of last season, few would have predicted that Chelsea would win the Champions League. Thomas Tuchel’s side triumphed against Manchester City with a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Kai Havertz and with Romelu Lukaku now returning to the club, the Blues look even stronger on paper than they did in the second half of last season. Chelsea are currently third favourites in the winner market with bet365, priced at 7/1 - an implied probability of 12.5%.
Bayern Munich - 7/1
Robert Lewandowski scored 48 goals in 40 games last season but was injured when Bayern crashed out of the Champions League. The striker is still the main man in attack for the Bavarians, who now have Julian Nagelsman in charge. David Alaba, Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez have all departed this summer although Dayot Upamecano has joined the German champions.
Liverpool - 9/1
Jurgen Klopp’s team have been drawn in Group B alongside Porto, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid. The six-time winners of the trophy have made a solid start to their domestic campaign and with the return of Virgil van Dijk in defence, they look a much more assured outfit than what they did at times last season. The return of fans to Anfield could also be a huge benefit to the club on those special european nights under the lights in the latter stages of the competition and at 9/1 one of the better priced teams towards the top end of the winner market.
Manchester United - 9/1
Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester has brought renewed hope that this Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side can go on and win some serious silverware this season. Two goals on debut against Newcastle at the weekend delighted the Old Trafford crowd and with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Verane also having been added to the squad improvements on last season’s achievements will be expected. Bet365 go 9/1 for United to lift their first Champions League trophy although bigger prices are on offer elsewhere such as 12/1 with Paddy Power.
Real Madrid - 14/1
The Galactico names of the past may not be as present in this current Real Madrid squad but Carlo Ancelotti’s side still look the strongest team in Spain on paper and are favourites to win the La Liga title. Real have been dealt a relatively generous hand in Group D, which puts them up against Inter Milan, Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova. 14/1 is the general view that most bookmakers have taken on Los Blancos winning their 14th European Cup this term.
Atlético Madrid - 20/1
Last season saw Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side crowned La Liga champions for the first time since 2014 and they have strengthened their midfield this summer with the signing of Rodrigo de Paul from Udinese. The side from the Spanish capital will play Liverpool, Porto and AC Milan in the group stage and can be backed at 20/1 to win the tournament outright.
Barcelona - 25/1
2003 was the last year that Barcelona started a Champions League campaign without Lionel Messi and it almost feels like a new era at the Camp Nou now that he’s left for the bright lights of Paris. The club still have two of the most promising young talents in world football in Pedri and Ansu Fati and with Memphis Depay in attack they will not be short of goals. 25/1 seems a big price for Barcelona to lift the trophy this season but when you consider the turmoil over transfers over recent months you can see why.
