Just three games into the Scottish Premiership season and already Celtic are two points clear of their bitter rivals in the table.
Three straight wins - over Kilmarnock, Hibernian and St Mirren - without conceding a single goal have put the Bhoys in the box seat in the battle for Scottish top-flight glory.
Rangers were playing catch-up right from the off after being held 0-0 by Hearts in their opener, though they have bounced back with a 2-1 win against Motherwell and 6-0 drubbing of Ross County.
They have also, however, been knocked out of the Champions League by Dynamo Kyiv, a source of huge frustration for Philippe Clement's men and one that Celtic fans will be quick to highlight.
The Hoops went unbeaten in this fixture last season, winning four of their five meetings including a 1-0 success in the FA Cup final.
Celtic are scoring goals for fun which is easy to understand when they are averaging an astonishing 24 goals a game.
That's way more than any other side in the Premiership and shows that whoever gets to play in an attacking role for Rodgers' men is expected to deliver.
Rangers will provide an appreciably sterner test than any of Kilmarnock, Hibs or St Mirren, but Celtic, at home, will still pile up the chances.
The hosts have no shortage of first, last or any time scorer options, with no one in richer form than Nicolas Kuhn.
The German hotshot has been sensational, bagging two against Manchester City in a pre-season friendly and then scoring in each of his first three competitive games.
He came off the bench against the Buddies after feeling his back which means he should be fit and firing against Rangers, who have good grounds to be wary.
Rangers gave Clement the big performance he asked for in last weekend's 6-0 demolition of Ross County, and they are now confident they can become the first team to breach Celtic in the league this term.
The Gers are pretty much being written off for this task yet the gulf between the two rivals isn't huge, as demonstrated last season.
Yes, Celtic won four of their five meetings, but all were by one-goal margins and the other game ended 3-3.
Cyril Dessers was on target once against the Bhoys last term, going on to score 16 goals for his side.
And Dessers is looking sharp again. He bagged two last week against Ross making it five goals already this term and, while Brendan Rodgers' men are only giving up an average of four shots per game, they have yet to play anyone of Rangers' calibre.
