This is the fifth meeting between these two sides this season and Premiership champions Celtic have had the majority of bragging rights so far, winning three of the four league meetings.
Surprisingly, this is the first time the two bitter rivals have met in the final of this competition since 2002, when Rangers twice came from behind to win 3-2 - with Peter Lovenkrands bagging a brace including the last-minute winner.
The Gers have also had cup success this season as James Tavernier’s second half strike was enough to seal a 1-0 victory in the League Cup final against Aberdeen back in December.
A close and hotly contested encounter is, as ever, expected between these two sides at the weekend.
Celtic vs Rangers Tips
Some of the best attacking talents in the Premiership will be on show for both sides on Saturday and the shots on target market could provide some worthwhile bets.
Matt O’Riley was voted Player of the Season for Celtic this season - with the Dane netting on 18 occasions as well as registering 13 assists - and the 23-year-old leads the way in shots on target for the Bhoys with 43, averaging over a shot on target per 90 minutes.
For Rangers and, despite not leading the club in terms of goals scored, no player has hit the target more than Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers with 48 - an average of 1.9 shots on target per 90 - and should be chosen alongside O’Riley to test the keeper again.
After lifting the league title for a 54th time last weekend - and with a dominant head-to-head record over the course of this campaign - Celtic will be confident that they can seal a league and cup double with victory on Saturday.
Their prowess in the Scottish Cup is impressive, with no side lifting the trophy on more occasions than Celtic’s 41, while the Bhoys have also won five of the last seven editions of this tournament.
Four of these final wins have seen over two goals scored while the same is true for three of the four meetings with Rangers this season and so a high-scoring affair could be in store at the weekend.
The Gers have plenty of attacking talent themselves, with three members of their first team squad finishing in the top ten for goals scored this season (James Tavernier, Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima), while they have scored 17 goals across their last six games in all competitions.
However one win in their last three matches is not the form that Philippe Clement will have wanted going into this final and, while Rangers have the quality to find the net, they may fall short of a cup double.
