Team news:
Brentford have one Covid omission in Ethan Pinnock and he's joined on the unavailable list by Zanka, Kristoffer Ajer, Julian Jeanvier, David Raya and Josh Dasilva. Ivan Toney should return here after his Covid isolation period has expired.
Chelsea have big issues on the injury front. Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell have all tested positive for Covid and will miss out here. Tuchel is also unsure about the fitness of Christensen, Havertz, Jorginho, Ziyech, Loftus-Cheek and Chalobah. This could be a heavily rotated team on show.
First up we have a goal scoring selection and when we look at Chelsea it's a matter of who will likely be playing. Thomas Tuchel is sweating on half a dozen players fitness but one man who is almost certain to start is attacking midfielder Mason Mount. The 22-year-old England star is having a very impressive season in the Premier League. He leads Chelsea in Goals (7), Shots (31) and Shots on Target (17) this season and is beginning to turn into the Chelsea figurehead. He is already having his joint best return for Chelsea and has only started 11 games so far this season so looks sure to beat that number.
Brentford have big issues at the back with four centre backs unavailable through either injury or Covid protocols and if there is one man who is likely to get into the channels and cause havoc in the Bees back line it's Mount.
He's a very competitive 2/1 to score in the 90 minutes of normal time.
One man who will be available in the back line for Thomas Frank is the 30-year-old Swede Pontus Jansson. The ex-Leeds man is a big threat from set pieces and is averaging 0.6 shots per game in the Premier League. Of those nine shots Jannson has hit the target an impressive four times this season, which works out at 25% of his games. Paddy Power have him priced at 4/1 and with a decimated Chelsea back line missing Chilwell, Rudiger and Chalobah I can see the big man getting some joy at corners.
