Heading into matchday 6 Dortmund sit top of Group F having collected ten points from their five matches. Edin Terzic’s side require just a point to confirm top-spot on the group, but they head into this clash winless in their last three, having suffered defeats on their last two outings against Stuttgart and Red Bull Leipzig.
Anything other than a victory for Paris Saint-Germain would leave their qualification chances out of their hands, with both Newcastle and AC Milan still having the possibility of making it to the last-16.
Taking a look at the 1x2 market and with the added motivation of needing to qualify for the latter stages, PSG are the 17/20 favourites to collect the three points, despite being the away side. The draw is on offer at 3/1, while a win for the hosts can be sided with 11/4.
Borussia Dortmund vs PSG Tips
My first selection comes from the relatively new market that is available with Sky Bet where punters can back players to win a certain amount of fouls in the match. The selection I like the look of is for Dortmund’s Ramy Bensebaini to win 2+ fouls in the match which is available at 10/11.
The left-back is the most fouled player for Dortmund this season having drawn 25 fouls in just 11 league matches. That’s seven more than any other member of the Black and Yellows squad this season, with Bensebaini clearing the 2+ fouls won line in seven of his ten starts this season. With Dortmund needing just a point to top the group, we can see them trying to control the game to frustrate the Parisiens, resulting in plenty of fouls won by the home side.
At 26/1 I’ve also had a speculative punt on Kylian Mbappe to score 2+ goals and Mats Hummels to be carded, again with Sky Bet. I fancy the visitors to put in a strong showing here and given the lack of motivation for the hosts who have already qualified I think it may open the door for a Kylian Mbappe masterclass. The World Cup winner and runner-up has already bagged 15 goals in Ligue 1 this season and has a further three to his name in Europe. Should PSG score early, this game could really open up and I’ve sided with Mbappe to bag the brace in Germany.
Coupled with an Mbappe brace is veteran defender Mats Hummels to be carded. The 34-year-old has been shown four yellows already in the Bundesliga this season and was shown a straight red in the first half of the defeat to Leipzig last weekend. Pairing those two selections together on Wednesday pays 26/1 via the Bet Builder feature with Sky Bet.
