The hosts are two-time champions of this fledgling competition - originating as a competition in place of the league during the COVID pandemic - and currently lie in fourth position in Group B, occupying the final play-off spot.
Xeneize are on a brilliant run of form at home, winning each of their last six in front of their own fans - including a tight 1-0 victory over Paraguayan outfit Sportivo Trinidense in the Copa Sudamericana, going top of Group D in the process
Godoy Cruz, meanwhile, are the only side in Group B to have confirmed their place in the next round, with Daniel Oldra’s side top of the pile with 29 points and losing just two of their 13 matches so far, conceding just five goals.
Tomba have won each of their last three in all competitions, but have historically struggled on their trips to Boca, with four of their last five visits to La Bombonera ending in defeat - although they did end their losing streak on their last trip here in a 1-1 draw in 2022.
Boca will be without long-term absentees Lucas Blondel and Exequiel Zeballos through cruciate ligament injuries, but former Manchester United trio Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo and Edinson Cavani are available and are expected to start.
Meanwhile, Godoy Cruz have three confirmed absentees for this meeting in the form of Braian Salvareschi, Juan Andrada and Tomas Pozzo, while midfielder Marcos Montiel is close to recovering from a knee injury and could feature.
Boca Juniors vs Godoy Cruz Tips
Given Godoy’s difficulties in claiming results at Boca in recent years, home advantage could be the key factor in deciding the destination of the three points come the final whistle.
Boca have not lost any of their six home fixtures in this tournament so far, with four wins and two draws helping put Azul y Oro top of the home charts on goal difference.
Godoy did score twice in their last away fixture at Platense but Boca should prove too stern a challenge and the Argentinian giants should claim all three points, with Tomba settling for little more than a consolation goal.
Uruguayan striker Cavani has already netted five times for Boca in the Copa de la Liga Profesional this season and should be the dangerman for Diego Martinez’s men in this encounter.
The 37-year old veteran has only featured in one of Boca’s last three matches but scored five across his four previous appearances and looks a tempting option in the goalscorer market at 21/10.
