In our 33/1 punt on Tuesday we have included two players to find their way into the referee’s notebook. Bookings are reset at this stage of the competition meaning players do not need to worry about being suspended for the all important second leg.
Since this rule change eight years ago, cards in semi-finals have been frequent, with an average of just over 4 per game being shown. Another positive for cards backers here is that Clement Turpin will be the man in the middle and he has shown three or more yellows in all of the Champions League games he has taken control of this season.
The first of two players we are siding with to be carded is Jude Bellingham. It’s been one hell of a season for the 20-year-old who has established himself as a world class player who the sky appears to be the limit for.
Bellingham has scored 17 league goals this season as his side close in on the La Liga title, while in Europe he has also scored on a further four occasions. It’s the cards market where we are backing him though and in the Champions League this season he averages over a foul per game. Bellingham has been booked twice in this European campaign, with both of those coming in away matches. With a place in the final on the line we expect him to be wearing his heart on his sleeve and to leave everything out there, which could well result in a booking.
The other player we are targeting is Alphonso Davies. The Canadian may have not been carded through the entire Bundesliga season, but it’s a different story in Europe with him being the most booked player for Bayern.
Davies has seen yellow in three of his seven starts in the Champions League this term, with bookings arriving against Arsenal at the Emirates and in both legs against Galatasaray. Priced at around 6/1 as a single, the left-back makes appeal at what could prove to be a very big price against such a high quality opponent.
The final leg is for Real Madrid to win or draw the match, which with BoyleSports can be selected in the Bet Builder by choosing the Real Madrid +1 handicap. You have to go all the way back to September to find the last time Los Blancos suffered defeat in normal time of a game - a remarkable run of 41 matches across all competitions. Madrid have won on their last three visits to Bayern and adding them into the Bet Builder takes us up to 33/1.
