The hosts sit at the top of the Premier League table with 71 points after 31 games and are on a brilliant run of form winning 10 of their last 12 games in all competitions. They boast the best defence in the league having conceded just 24 goals all season and come into this clash as deserved favourites after getting past Porto on penalties in round of 16 stage.
Just like their hosts, Tuchel’s Bayern fought back from 1-0 down in the first leg in the last 16 to beat Lazio 3-0 and book their spot in the quarter finals of the Champions League. However, they are 16 points adrift of Bayer Leverkusen in the league, set to miss out on the league title for the first time in 12 years. The German giants have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 games in all competitions and come into this game on the back of two consecutive league defeats to rivals Dortmund and new-comers Heidenheim.
With the title race virtually over, this competition holds immense importance for Tuchel’s side and they will hope to continue their dominant head to head record over Arsenal having beaten them 5-1 in each of their last three meetings in this competition. Despite that record, Arsenal will feel they can take advantage of Bayern’s vulnerable defence and get the better of the German Champions in front of their supporters.
Team News:
Jurrien Timber is out for Arsenal. No other injuries or suspensions to worry about.
Sacha Boey, Bouna Sarr, Buchmann & Noel Aseko are out for Bayern while Manuel Neuer, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane, Mazraoui & Pavlovic are doubtful.
Arsenal vs Bayern Munich Tips
- Leon Goretzka - Over 0.5 fouls committed
- Over 0 goals for Arsenal
- Over 9.5 shots for Arsenal
- Bukayo Saka - Over 0.5 shots
I expect large parts of this game to be dominated by the Arsenal midfield and Goretzka is a player who loves a tackle. He has committed a foul in eight of his last nine league games and is averaging two fouls per game in his last four Champions League appearances this season.
As for goals, Bayern have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 games in all competitions and Arsenal have a lot of firepower in attack, having scored a massive 16 goals in just their last six home games in all competitions.
Moving onto the shots selection, Arsenal are averaging 17.6 shots per game at the Emirates stadium in the league and 14 shots per game in the Champions League at this venue. Considering how big of a challenge it will be at the Allianz Arena in the second leg, Arsenal will want to maximise their advantage in the first leg so I expect them to comfortably clear the “Over 9.5 shots” line.
Finally, Bukayo Saka has been Arsenal’s main man this season, top scoring with 14 league goals and averaging the most shots per game (2.9). Against a struggling defence, he should be able to register at least one shot towards goal. Combining these four selections gives us a solid bet builder @ 5/6 and we will take it a 1pt stake as our main bet for this massive fixture.
Kai Havertz has been in sensational form for Arsenal in the second half of the season, scoring five goals in his last seven league games. He is a constant threat in the final third and against a Bayern defence that are consistently leaking goals, I expect his teammates to create enough chances for him to add another goal to his tally here.
As for Harry Kane, he will be relishing a return to the Emirates Stadium as he has a fantastic record against the Gunners, scoring 14 goals in 19 meetings against them. He has been one of the few positives for the German side this season, scoring a huge 38 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions and he will be Bayern’s biggest attacking threat. Combining these two selections gives us a cracking goalscorer longshot double at 9/1 and we will take that with a small 0.25pt stake as our second bet for this game.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
