Outright Winner
What is it?
As it says on the tin, this is the market for who will win the 2022 World Cup.
In 2018 we saw France handed ante-post odds of 7/1 to come out on top - they were the fourth favourites - and they went on to claim their second golden trophy with a 4-2 win over Croatia in the final.
Who are the favourites?
The upcoming tournament feels more open than ever, which is reflected in the betting below, where you'll find six different countries at single-digit prices.
We're talking favourites Brazil, Argentina who are unbeaten in over three years, defending champions France, Euro 2020 runners-up England, a talented and technical young Spain, while you can simply never rule out the Germans despite a disappointing showing in Russia four years ago.
Only eight countries have ever won the World Cup, although there are a number of potential First Time Winners who have every chance of joining the party: from a vastly improved Netherlands under veteran Louis van Gaal, to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, and a Belgium side still desperate to taste success under their Golden Generation.
Elsewhere, Denmark (35/1) are sure to be many people’s dark horses, while 2018 runners-up Croatia could catch attention at 50/1.
Meanwhile, if you’re feeling particularly optimistic about Saudi Arabia or Costa Rica, you can find the duo located on the outskirts of the betting at 1000/1.
How to bet on the Outright Winner market?
You can compare and contrast all of the bookmaker prices for each of the 32 participating countries in the odds table below.
In order to place your bet, simply click on the odds of your chosen country, which will take you through to the relevant bookmaker website, where you can then place your required stake in the pop-up betting slip.
You can also bet using the each-way function, with all bookmakers offering 1/2 odds for two places. So if your chosen pick reaches the final, but loses, you still receive a return of half the outright odds you originally backed them at.

Top Goalscorer
What is it?
Simply put, the player who scores the most goals at the tournament - excluding goals in a penalty shoot-out - is crowned the Top Goalscorer.
The player who scores the most goals wins the Golden Boot, but while there can only be one Golden Boot winner - if two or more players are tied at the top of the scoring charts, then FIFA decide who gets the award based on other criteria e.g. assists or minutes played - this differs, however, when it comes to betting on the top scorer.
If two or more players are level then dead heat rules apply: it's worth double checking this first as it can vary by bookmaker.
Who are the favourites to be crowned Top Goalscorer?
The 2022 tournament will play host to many of the world’s top sharpshooters.
The 2018 victor, Harry Kane who was 16/1 to win four years ago, is the narrow 8/1 favourite to become the first player in World Cup history to win the award twice.
The PSG trio of Kylian Mbappe (9/1), Lionel Messi (14/1), and Neymar (16/1) will each be expected to be bang in the mix to win the coveted accolade, as will Karim Benzema (14/1), Cristiano Ronaldo (16/1), and Romelu Lukaku (20/1).
How to bet on the Top Goalscorer market?
Similarly to the Outright Market, all you need to do to place your bet in this field is click on the bookmaker price next to your preferred player in the odds table below.
This will subsequently take you through to the bookmaker website where your chosen bet will pop up in a bet slip.
Due to the competitive nature of this particular market, many punters opt to go each-way on their chosen player(s).
In an each-way top goalscorer bet, you place half of your stake on the player to win outright and the other half on the player to place e.g. if a bookmaker offers four places then your player will need to finish in the top four (dead heat rules apply).
The majority of firms currently offer four places at 1/4 odds - these are listed at the bottom of the odds table below.
Group Betting
There are a number of different markets available when it comes to World Cup Group Odds.
Below we run you through these, using England and Group B as an example:
- Group Winner: Who tops the group e.g. England are 1/3 to win Group B.
- To Qualify: Who will make it through to the knockout stages e.g. England are 1/12 to progress.
- Straight Forecast: Who finishes 1st & 2nd in the exact order e.g. England 1st & Wales 2nd is 15/8.
- Dual Forecast: Who finishes 1st & 2nd in any order e.g. England/Wales & Wales/England are both 11/8.
- Exact Finishing Order: The exact order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th e.g. England, Wales, USA, Iran is 4/1.
You can also create your own Group Accumulators e.g. BettingOdds.com writer Anton Eadson has pieced together a 2,171/1 acca on who will finish 1st and 2nd in each group.
Additionally, you can bet on the highest scoring group and the group that will produce the eventual winner.
