Match Preview: Ukraine vs Belgium
Group E hangs in the balance more than any other group going into the final round of group stage fixtures with all four teams having won one and lost one of their opening two games, making for a mouth-watering evening of action on Wednesday night.
While Slovakia face Romania, Ukraine and Belgium will take each other on simultaneously in Stuttgart with a view to securing three points that would guarantee progression to the Round of 16.
Both sides were beaten unexpectedly in their opening games, with Belgium suffering the biggest shock in European Championship history - according to the FIFA World Rankings - by losing 1-0 to Slovakia in Frankfurt while Ukraine slipped to a humiliating 3-0 loss to Romania.
However, they were both able to recover on Matchday Two, with the Red Devils turning in a more professional performance to beat Romania 2-0, while Ukraine needed to come from behind to secure three points with a 2-1 win over Slovakia.
Now, with everything on the line, this game takes on something of a knock-out feel. Belgium will be favourites, but Ukraine showed their spirit in that win over Slovakia and you simply cannot rule them out here.
Best Betting Markets for Ukraine vs Belgium
Belgium are the odds-on favourites for the win at around 7/10 with most bookmakers, but given that the Red Devils have already lost to Slovakia in this group you could certainly make a case for Ukraine at 4/1 or the draw at 10/3.
Both of these teams were hoping to rely on big goals from their physical centre forwards at this competition, but neither Artem Dovbyk nor Romelu Lukaku has got off the mark as yet. Girona's Dovbyk is 11/4 to score at any time while Lukaku, who has been desperately unlucky to have three goals ruled out by VAR, is 7/5.
With so much on the line though, perhaps we should be anticipating a more tense affair here? The goalless draw is 14/1, but only one game so far in this tournament has ended without a goal.
