Youri Tielemans Next Club Odds: Arsenal are the market leaders for the midfielder

Youri Tielemans is another Leicester player who is reportedly looking for a way out this transfer window. The Belgian midfielder has never been short of options when it comes to a move away and the bookmakers have priced up a couple of potential destinations for him, we’ll be taking a look at what the market suggests
Arsenal
Arsenal have been linked with Youri Tielemans plenty of times in the past and in their attempts at claiming their first Premier League title since 2004, they’ll be looking to bolster their squad depth in hopes of building the elusive title-winning team.
Arsenal’s midfield will only be strengthened by the signing of the Belgian international. Their current midfield consists of Partey, Odegaard, and Xkaha for most games. They of course have Elneny and Vieira as alternatives but that is really where their options end.
We all know you need a strong squad and not just a strong starting XI to win a title and Arsenal will be hunting for more in the transfer market given their current position in the league. They have already started to make movements to Shakhtar’s Mykhailo Mudryk who is more of an attacking midfielder/winger, I still think they are in desperate need of a more central-minded midfielder, if Xhaka is to pick up an injury or even get suspended which is incredibly likely, they’ll have to rely on Elneny to pick up the pieces, and that is not disrespect to the Egyptian but he is nowhere near as good as Xhaka or Tielemans.
The signing of Tielemans would be huge for Arsenal, they’ve shown interest in him in the past and their squad is crying out for some numbers. The Leicester midfielder is also out of contract soon and if he makes it clear that he does not see himself at Leicester in the future, it could be wise of The Foxes to try and make some money on him whilst they still can.
Newcastle United
Newcastle are seemingly the go-to name for transfer rumours at the moment with their more than wealthy new owners seemingly being keen to sign anyone they see fit. On top of that, Eddie Howe is building a surprisingly solid side in such a little amount of time, and the prospect of European football for them next season is seemingly becoming a reality.
Before this takeover, Newcastle was not an ideal destination but with players like Bruno Guimaraes trading Lyon for the Toon, it’s looking more likely that they can attract the top talent and Youri Tielemans could be a great long-term option for their midfield to partner Bruno.
As Newcastle transition into this new side, they’ll unfortunately, have to upgrade some of their players. Their current midfield of Guimaraes, Willock and Longstaff is probably not what they want going into a potential European campaign. Longstaff and Willock are by no means bad players but these new owners have the option to bring in a player like Tielemans to replace one of them, I’m sure they will be chasing that deal.
I’d argue Newcastle makes more sense than Arsenal and the wage packet that will be on offer in Newcastle should more than tempt Tielemans. Of course, the potential Premier League title is a genuine possibility if you join the Gunners instead but it all depends on what Mikel Arteta is interested in.
Liverpool
Liverpool were crying out for a new midfielder for ages and then they finally agreed on a loan deal for Arthur Melo from Juventus. Well, Arthur Melo has been there a good few months now and has only managed 166 minutes for the Reds due to injury.
Liverpool’s luck at the moment seems to be completely gone as they have Diaz, Jota, Melo, Milner, and Henderson all out. The squad is seriously lacking some bodies and Youri Tielemans could be the perfect signing for them if they are to further reinforce that midfield.
When it comes to their midfield they are relying on all of Thiago, Fabinho, and Keita to stay fit for a while which is highly unlikely. We all know Tielemans is more than capable of playing at the elite level and with him only being 25 years old, the time to step up to that next level could be now with this move seemingly making a lot of sense.
They’re desperate for some fresh blood in the midfield at Anfield and Youri could seemingly be available on a cheaper deal with his contract expiring this year. Klopp has claimed multiple times that Liverpool are tight on the pennies but they’re going to need to start investing in the future soon.
Manchester United
There’s not much to say on this one. Man Utd are always mentioned in the bookmaker's odds as they know it is some easy money for them. There will be someone somewhere that’s had a cheeky couple of quid on Tielemans to Man Utd and unfortunately for fans of the Red Devils, it’s not looking likely.
There could have been something to this move with Donny van de Beek seemingly picking up a season-ending injury but there are next to no reports linking these two clubs together. Ten Hag seems to have set on his midfield of Eriksen, Casemiro, and Fernandes and they are focusing more on replacing Ronaldo than their midfield.
