Wolves v Newcastle Tips: Usual suspect Saiss primed for yellow against Saint-Maximin

Newcastle make the trip to the Midlands on Sunday afternoon as they face Wolves at Molineux. Nuno Santo’s side sit two points ahead of the Magpies going into the game which can be seen live on Sky Sports Premier League, kicking off at 4:30pm. It has been a profitable week for my football tips on BettingOdds.com and I’ve picked out three selections that I like the look of for Sunday.
On the team news front, Spaniard Jonny Castro is the only definite absentee for Wolves with an injury that will see him sidelined until the new year. Adama Traore will be pushing for a start after making a positive impact against Leeds from the bench.
Issac Hayden picked up a hamstring injury in Newcastle’s game against Manchester United and is a doubt for the clash with Wolves and Karl Darlow should continue in goal despite a slight knock. Martin Dubravka remains sidelined with third choice keeper Mark Gillespie ready to be called upon if needed.
Wolves are the favourites with the bookmakers to take all three points, priced at 3/4 with most firms. An away win for Newcastle can be backed at 4/1, an implied 20% of victory, with the draw being available at 5/2.
Allan Saint-Maximin 1+ shot on target from outside the box - 1.5pts @ 23/10 Paddy Power
Max Kilman to be carded - 0.75pts @ 5/1 Betfair, BetVictor, Paddy Power
Jimenez & Wilson 1+ shot on target, Saiss & Lewis to be carded - 0.25pts @ 45/1 Paddy Power
The first of three selections that are all team-news dependent is Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin to have one or more shots on target from outside the box - priced at 23/10 with Paddy Power. Newcastle’s pacey attacker is one of the most exciting players to watch in the Premier League at the moment and can be an absolute nightmare for defenders.
The Frenchman registered his second shot on target of the season last week against Manchester United, which came from outside the area. I think Newcastle will sit quite deep against Wolves, with a look to getting on the counter which could lead to potential long range shots from the 23-year-old. Two of his three shots this season have come from outside the area and I fancy this to land again this week, just as it did against Manchester United.
For my second selection I’ve moved into the ‘to be carded’ market and have picked out Maximilian Kilman for Wolves. The central defender put in a Man of the Match performance for his side in the narrow 1-0 victory over Leeds, on what was his second league start of the season. In both of those matches Wolves have kept a clean sheet and I expect him to keep his place in the side after being awarded a new contract this week.
Playing on the left of a back three against Newcastle though does come with added issues, a big very big issue in that of Allan Saint-Maximin. Only two players have been fouled more times in the league this season than the Newcastle number ten. He loves to run with the ball and fouls can often be the only way to prevent a counter against such a dangerous attacker.
Kilman was booked twice in just four games in the Europa League last season and with him likely to be deployed on the left of a back-three I’m fancying him to pick up his first in the Premier League. He’s priced at 5/1 which looks a generous price in my opinion.
My longshot for the game I’ve opted for, Callum Wilson and Raul Jimenez to have one or more shots on target, with both Romain Saiss and Jamal Lewis to be carded, available at 45/1 with Paddy Power.
Wolves’ talisman Raul Jimenez was on the scoresheet once again on Monday night scoring the winner against Leeds in a game where the visitors were lucky to come away with the three points. The Mexican has three league goals this term and is averaging 1.2 shots on target per game.
Priced at 4/5 as a single, I’m also including Callum Wilson to have one or more shots on target. Those odds look slightly inflated when you consider he has four Premier League goals to his name this campaign and is averaging bang on one shot on target per game.
Moving onto the bookings and for Wolves I’ve opted for Romain Saiss, a man who is no stranger to a yellow card. The 27-year-old picked up ten yellow cards in 33 appearances last season and with Saiss potentially playing as a left wing-back, up against Saint-Maximin, he looks primed for a booking.
For Newcastle I’m fancying Jamal Lewis to find his way into the notebook. Nobody has been booked more times in the league this season than Newcastle’s left-back, who has three cautions, along with Aston Villa’s John McGinn. There’s a strong chance that Adama Traore will start this game after impressing from the bench against Leeds and over 30 players in all competitions were booked for fouls on him last season.
With players such as Traore and Saint-Maximin on the field, combined with a little bit of value with certain Newcastle players in the shots markets, I feel this could be a good game for the Same Game Multi’s. It’s one I’m looking forward to and best of luck to those following the selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
