West Brom vs. Sheffield United Betting Tips: Back this 33/1 League Cup double

West Brom face Sheffield United in the first round of the League Cup on Thursday evening. The game can be seen live on Sky Sports, kicking off at 8pm, and here at BettingOdds we’ve previewed the action and provided you with our two best bets for the game at the Hawthorns.
Just one fixture remains in the Carabao Cup this week, with the winner of the Baggies versus the Blades being rewarded with a trip to Derby County in the second round. Plenty of changes are expected for both sides, with West Brom having faced two of the Championship’s stronger sides in their opening fixtures.
The most recent of those was a 1-1 draw with Watford on Monday evening, although they did generate the biggest xG total of the season so far (3.06xG), while their season opener with Middlesbrough finished with the same scoreline at the Riverside. Okay Yokuslu, Kyle Bartley, Adam Reach and Matt Phillips are all expected to come into the starting lineup for the hosts.
Sheffield United went down 1-0 away to Watford in the Matchday 1 of the Championship, but responded with a strong showing in a 2-0 win over Millwall on home soil last Saturday. Chris Basham, Enda Stevens, Oli McBurnie and Jack O’Connell are all confirmed absentees for Blades, but there could well be starts for Reda Khadra, James McAtee, and Daniel Jebbison.
West Brom vs Sheffield United Tips
We’ve picked out two anytime scorers for this Carabao clash with the first of those being West Brom’s Matt Phillips. Betfair and Paddy Power are currently top-price at 4/1 for the 31-year-old finding the net, with others such as bet365 going considerably shorter at 5/2.
The former Queens Park Rangers forward may have only found the net on three occasions last season, but having a look at his xG data, he actually amassed 0.26xG per 90 minutes, proving he has an appetite to still get into those good scoring positions. Steve Bruce handed Phillips a start in West Brom’s game against Boro, but was benched for Monday’s meeting with Watford. Phillips should be fresh and raring to go in what looks a good opportunity to prove to the manager he can be a starter week-in-week-out in this important season for West Brom.

Next up we are siding with James McAtee to score his first goal for Sheffield United at an attractive looking 11/2 with the same bookmakers. The 19-year-old has arrived at Bramall Lane on loan from Manchester City after being handed minutes for Pep Guardiola’s side in all four competitions they were involved in last season.
Most of McAtee’s time though, was playing for City’s Under 23’s where he scored an impressive 18 goals in 23 appearances in PL2. It is expected the youngster will be handed his first start tonight and 11/2 looks a little big for an attacking midfielder who could get a good few chances against a heavily rotated Baggies. Others such as Unibet have this selection at a lot shorter at 3/1, so we’d certainly be going with Betfair or Paddy Power here.
