Wales vs. Croatia Betting Tips: Two bets for Group D game in Cardiff

Wales look to draw level with Croatia on 10 points in Euro 2024 qualifying Group D in Sunday's pivotal clash at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Scott Thornton has previewed the game and provided us with his two best bets.
Wales host Croatia in a fixture that will define their qualifying campaign. Rob Page’s men were disappointing at the World Cup and they risk missing out on the European Championships altogether.
Croatia slumped to 2nd place in the group after Thursday’s defeat against Turkey. A defeat in Cardiff would put their position in the tournament in real jeopardy.
Turkey’s win in Croatia was a nightmare result for the Welsh. They can now win all their remaining matches but still fail to qualify for next summer's European Championships. Rob Page’s side come into this fixture on the back of a 4-0 win over Gibraltar in Wrexham but they will need to reach a level seldom reached in recent months in order to beat Croatia.
Charlie Savage impressed in Wales’s win over Gibraltar and could get some minutes against Croatia. Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out for a lengthy period with a knee injury and is a big miss for his club and country. Page handed out several debuts against Gibraltar but the eleven that take to the field against Croatia should have more experience.
Croatia were without several key players in the defeat to Turkey. Ivan Perisic, Mislav Orsic and Andrej Kramaric were absent, leaving the home side looking devoid of ideas in the attacking third.
Wales vs Croatia Tips
Rob Page is in the process of ushering out the old guard that served Wales well through a golden age for the country but he will have to rely on some of his younger talents in the games to come. Their form has improved in recent matches but they need a remarkable run in order to salvage this qualifying campaign.
Home advantage could play a big part here but Wales have failed to win any of their last seven matches against Croatia. They will need to end that torrid run to harbour hopes of making it to next summer’s tournament.
Croatia’s team is filled with experience. A midfield of Brozovic, Modric and Kovacic makes them a formidable opponent and they should dominate possession against a Wales side that will attempt to hit them on the counter. However, their lack of threat in attack would have been a real concern for Zlatko Dalic.
This will most likely be a cagey affair with both teams having so much on the line. Croatia’s injuries upfront make them a less dangerous proposition but the Welsh will have to be combative to prevent the Croat's midfield maestros from pulling the strings.
The last two meetings between these sides have ended 1-1. Four of Wales’s last five competitive fixtures have seen two goals or less. Those matches have seen an average of seven corners.
Croatia have played seven matches since the World Cup and those matches have averaged just 2.14 goals per game. The corner stats are also favourable to our bet here. Those matches have seen an average of 8.86 corners. There were just three corners the last time Croatia visited this ground.
We are sticking with the goals and corner angles in our longshot with lower lines and the added stipulation of Wales getting a result.
This bet landed the last time these sides squared off at the Cardiff City Stadium and it’s paramount that Wales get a positive result here. There has been six corners or less in both of Wales’s home qualifiers so far.
