The CONCACAF Gold Cup’s most successful teams have made it through to the final, with nine-time winners Mexico preparing to take on seven-time champions USA.
They will do battle at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, with kick-off at 12am on Monday, live on Premier Sports 2.
USA vs Mexico Prediction
USA vs Mexico Tips
Defending champions Mexico have not won back-to-back CONCACAF Gold Cups since their triumphs in 2011 and 2013 but they can get the better of the USA in a fascinating encounter.
Reaching the final was the minimum expectation for both nations, although they were involved in some closely-fought games.
USA had to work hard for group stage wins over Saudi Arabia (1-0) and Haiti (2-1) and drew 2-2 with quarter-final opponents Costa Rica before winning 4-3 on penalties.
Progress through the knockout rounds was easier for Mexico, who showed off their defensive prowess in wins over Saudi Arabia (2-0) and Honduras (1-0).
Javier Aguirre’s side had started the tournament with an uncertain 3-2 triumph over Dominican Republic, but they followed with four successive clean sheets and will be targeting another shutout in the final.
USA have some talented players including attackers Santiago Luna and Malik Tillman, who have bagged three goals each since the start of the tournament.
But Mexico have looked rock solid - conceding eight shots on target over five games - and they can get the job done inside normal time at 31/20 with bet365.
For my Bet Builder, I'm backing Alexis Vega to score and Johnny Cardoso to commit over 1.5 fouls at 15/4 with bet365.
Mexican attacker Alexis Vega has had a fairly quiet tournament - scoring just one goal - but he has bags of talent and can make his mark on the final.
Vega has spent his entire club career in Mexican football with Toluca (two spells) and Guadalajara but has improved his game in recent years.
The 27-year-old was instrumental in Toluca’s Clausura 2025 league title, contributing 13 goals and 11 assists, and may be ready to play a more influential role at international level.
Both teams will be desperate to gain control in midfield and there could be some feisty exchanges.
Betis’s Johnny Cardoso will be at the heart of USA’s efforts to stem Mexican attacks and his foul count could rise to two more.
USA vs Mexico Team News
USA head coach Maurcio Pochettino went with an unchanged team for the 2-1 semi-final victory over Guatemala and may be reluctant to mix things up for the final. Real Salt Lake attacker Diego Luna scored twice in the opening 15 minutes against Guatemala and seems certain to stay in the eleven.
A refresh could be more necessary for Mexico, who were 1-0 semi-final victors over Honduras in a physical encounter. However, 16-year-old Tijuana attacker Gilberto Rafael Mora will be hoping to keep his place after providing the assist for Rafael Jimenez’s winning goal.
