Tottenham vs Liverpool Prediction, Odds and Betting Tips: Back this huge 55/1 fancy on Sunday
Tottenham host Liverpool in the final Premier League fixture before Christmas. Matthew O’Regan is on hand with bets at 5/4 and 55/1 to hopefully pay for a few Christmas niceties.
Tottenham vs Liverpool Predictions
It has been a rollercoaster season for Tottenham. Ange Postecoglou has come in for criticism for his style of play, with Spurs often waning defensively and looking susceptible to set pieces. The 4-3 win midweek Carabao Cup win over Manchester United was the embodiment of Spurs under the Aussie – dominant before two errors left the Spurs faithful longing for the full-time whistle.
The victory would’ve been a relief for Postecoglou, who is aiming to win the club’s first trophy since 2008. The Carabao Cup will serve as a welcome distraction, with Spurs languishing down in 10th in the Premier League. Things may go from bad to worse in the league for the hosts as they welcome table-toppers Liverpool to North London.
At the time of writing, Liverpool sit at the top of the table by two points, with a game in hand over nearest challengers Chelsea. Despite minimal summer backing and a stretched squad, Arne Slot has his side as title favourites, as well as guiding them to the knockouts of the Champions League with ease and a Carabao Cup semi-final.
However, the side from Merseyside are without a win in two in the league, having drawn away 3-3 at Newcastle and 2-2 at home to Fulham. While they should have too much for an inconsistent Tottenham Hotspur side, the hosts can take some confidence from the visitor’s recent feeble defence.
Spurs’ injury issues are well documented. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, centre-back Cristian Romero, and Micky Van de Ven are injured, as are Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Mikey Moore, Richarlison, Timo Werner, and Wilson Odobert. Rodrigo Bentancur is also missing through suspension.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are blessed on the injury front. Alisson Becker is back from his injury, meaning only Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate are absent.
Dejan Kulusevski has affirmed himself as a fan favourite in recent weeks. His chant can be heard echoing around the concourse, and for good reason. The Swede has been a standout in a lacklustre Tottenham side this season.
In 14 league starts, the 24-year-old has scored four goals and assisted three, averaging 0.73 shots on target per 90. His output increases in the EFL Cup, averaging 1.84 shots on target per 90 while averaging 1.01 in the Europa League.
Postecoglou has used Kulusevski in an array of positions this season, but he seems to have settled on the wing for the time being. He has had a shot on target in his last seven starts and looks valuable to make it eight in a row.

Since it is Christmas, it would be rude not to have a longshot card bet. Alexis Mac Allister returns to the league side after missing the 2-2 draw at home to Fulham with suspension. The Argentine has been shown five yellows in 12 league starts, for an average of 0.46 per 90. This season, 23 centre midfielders have been booked against Tottenham, with James Maddison being fouled 3.20 times per 90.
Pape Sarr was booked for his first foul in the 4-3 cup win over Manchester United. It was the 22-year-olds fifth yellow card in all competitions and second in three starts. The Senegalese international is averaging 1.90 fouls and 0.32 yellow cards per 90 in the Premier League. Against Liverpool, 20 centre midfielders have been booked.
Djed Spence has broken into the Tottenham Hotspur team in recent weeks in the place of Destiny Udogie. The 24-year-old seemed to be at the end of his short Tottenham career before being given a reprieve in recent weeks. He has made four fouls in the last two games, also being booked in a 44-minute cameo against Manchester United earlier in the season. Spence will be keen to ensure he keeps his place in the Spurs side, so it would not be a surprise to see him overstep the mark in what should be a feisty fixture in North London.
