Study: The Price of follwing a Premier League team this season

Now it’s no secret that following the beautiful game is expensive. With the sheer amount of games a team plays a season and the terrible cost of trains over here in the UK, your bank account will take a heavy hit if you decide to follow your team up and down the country, or even in some cases, around the world.
With Liverpool’s current success and them still being in contention to win the quadruple, it got us thinking. What’s the price of this success? Liverpool have played every game possible this season and whilst the fans will be absolutely buzzing, some fans who refuse to miss a game are having their money drained from going to watch their team.
Well lucky for you, we’ve done the math. We’ve gone and added up the lowest priced off peak return for every Premier League teams away trip, the lowest priced ticket to the game and in European cases, the lowest return flight we could see on Skyscanner. Doing all of this for Liverpool, we’ve got a total of £3,396.40 for the season if you wanted to watch every game. But can you really put a price on winning the quadruple? Well considering the average salary in the UK is reported at £25,900, it’s going to take two months of your pay from you.
Even luckier for you, we’ve done this for every team in the Premier League this season, to see how Liverpool shape up and you can see the full list of results below. We’ve also included a full breakdown of Liverpool’s expenses this season. Some teams have unfortunately suffered from bad travel connections, for example, the infamous train journey from Manchester Piccadilly to London isn’t getting any cheaper and that’s not helped both Manchester clubs, another example is Burnley who have a lot of changes in their train journeys as not many go direct to Burnley. London clubs have it the cheapest as you can get a really cheap train or bus service to another part of London.
