The biggest betting talking points from Round One of Euro 2021

Round One of the Euros has now drawn to his conclusion and there were plenty of talking points for us to divulge from a betting perspective. Here, we look at some of the best.
Biggest market movers in the outright markets
Winner
France entered the tournament as 5/1 favourites to go the distance and after their 1-0 win over Germany on Tuesday night have seen their price shorten to 7/2. Les Bleus were the better team throughout their opener and even had two goals ruled out for offside, with the narrow scoreline in the end flattering Joachim Low’s side, who have subsequently drifted out to 12/1 in the winner's market from 8/1 (pre-tournament).
England have drifted slightly despite beating Croatia in their opening group game on Sunday. The Three Lions put in an assertive performance against the side that knocked them out of the World Cup three years ago, but are now available at 13/2 with several firms having begun the campaign at 5/1.
Dark horses Italy have also seen their price in the Euro 2021 winner betting cut from 9/1 into 7/1 following a dominant win over Turkey on Friday night. Goals from Merih Demiral, Ciro Immoblie and Lorenzo Insigne clinched a 3-0 victory for the Azzurri to fire them to the top of Group A after Round One, with many believing that their defensive solidarity and style of play - which suits tournament football so well - could see them go the distance.
Top Scorer
Romelu Lukaku was heavily backed to be the Euro 2021 top scorer and he has started things perfectly with two goals in his opening appearance. The Inter Milan front man let off 3 shots against Russia, scoring twice, and will head into tomorrow’s game against Denmark brimming with confidence, hoping to add to his haul. Subsequently, his price in the Euro 2021 top scorer betting has now been cut from 7/1 (pre-tournament) to 5/2.
Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo became the all-time leading goalscorer in European Championship history when he notched two goals in the 3-0 win over Hungary on Tuesday evening. He now sits top of the chart alongside Lukaku and has also seen his price in the betting slashed considerably from 12/1 into 4/1.
England’s Harry Kane has drifted like a barge in the Golden Boot betting. The Spurs forward entered the competition as 6/1 favourite but can now be found as high as 12/1 to outscore his peers in the coming month.
Kane was largely ineffective against Croatia and has looked somewhat off the pace in recent outings for the national team - although a player of his calibre always poses a huge threat in the final third, and will have a great opportunity to regain some goalscoring form in the coming games against Scotland and the Czech Republic.
