Author's Opinion
Sweden have been consistent in their history at qualifying for major tournaments and reached the quarter-finals at the World Cup in 2018. At the age of 39 Zlatan Ibrahimovic has come out of International retirement and will feature at this summer's tournament to the delight of many fans.
With four of the third placed teams from the six groups at Euro 2021 qualifying for knockout stage, I believe that Sweden may well sneak into the round of 16. The Scandinavians have been drawn in Group E and they could finish in third spot behind Spain and Poland and still qualify.
Slovakia look the weakest team in this group and Sweden’s clash with them will be the key game for who has the chance to advance to the latter stages. Sweden have a nice mix of youth and experience and the young Alexander Isak and Dejan Kulusevski are ones to keep an eye on.

Top Three Key Players
Emil Forsberg, RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg will be key for Sweden at Euro 2021. The 29-year-old's creativity will provide the Swede's goalscoring opportunities in the final third, while his experience - having made 56 appearances for the national team throughout his career - will bring a calm head to proceedings at the Championships.
Victor Lindelof, Manchester United
Central defender Victor Lindelof has appeared over 40 times for Manchester United in all competitions this season and has kept his position at the side of Harry Maguire putting in some solid performances. Still only 26, Lindelof has been capped 40 times for Sweden and is maturing into a smart player and an excellent passer of the ball.
Alexander Isak, Real Sociedad
With 14 goals in 25 starts this season for Real Sociedad it’s been a superb season for Alexander Isak. The young forward is an excellent shooter from distance and also has a free-kick in his locker. At the young age of 21 he can be more than happy with his return for Sociedad last year improving on his nine goals in the 2019/2020 season. He can also be backed at 33/1 in BetVictor’s young player of the tournament market.
Young Gun
Dejan Kulusevski, Juventus
At just 8/1 with BetVictor to be named the young player of the tournament, Dejan Kulusevski is touted to be one of the brightest young talents heading to the European Championships. The young Juventus starlet can play a variety of positions but normally features on the right side of an attacking three. He’s scored seven goals this campaign but is certainly worth keeping in mind in the ‘to be carded’ markets throughout the tournament after picking up eight yellows throughout the season.
Sweden’s Outright Odds at Euro 2021
Sweden failed to make it past the group stage at Euro 2016 and will have their sights set on the knockout phase this time round. The Scandinavians can be backed at 80/1 for Euro glory this summer with 1/2 odds available each-way from most firms on teams reaching the final.
Sweden’s Group Odds at Euro 2021
Sweden have been drawn in Group E along with Poland, Spain and Slovakia. They can be backed at 7/1 to top the group with Unibet and are 8/15 to qualify for the knockout phase of the tournament.
The Gaffer
After their poor showing at Euro 2016, Janne Andersson took over as manager of the Swedish national side after seven years with Eirk Harmen at the helm. Andersson won the Swedish top flight title in the 2015 season with IFK Norrkoping and currently holds a 49% win rate in charge of the national side.
