Stoke vs. Brighton Betting Tips: Wilmot a big price to give away a foul

Besides live matches on ITV1 and BBC1 on Tuesday evening, there is also action on ITV 4 with Stoke City hosting Brighton in their FA Cup fifth round clash. We’ve got two tips for the game which we think represent good value in the betting markets.
After defeat to Millwall on Saturday, Stoke are now 13 points away from the play-offs in the Championship table and nine points clear of the relegation zone. With their season having the potential to fizzle-out into a mediocre mid-table finish it gives an extra incentive for a good cup run. This game against the Seagulls presents them with a chance to do so with The Potters last reaching the final back in 2011 under Tony Pulis.
Brighton did not play in the Premier League last weekend due to Newcastle’s participation in the League Cup final. Roberto De Zerbi’s side managed to see off Liverpool 2-1 in the fourth round of this competition and will fancy their chances against lower league opposition here.
The bookmakers certainly agree and have priced Brighton at 1/2 to get the win in 90 minutes. For those who fancy the draw, 7/2 is available, while a home win for Stoke is on show at 6/1 with local firm bet365.
Stoke vs Brighton Tips
The first of our picks is from the player fouls market, where we are siding with Stoke’s centre-back Ben Wilmot to give away one or more in the match. Betfair and Paddy Power have even money (2.0) available on this selection which looks rather generous when considering he has cleared this line in four of his last four matches.
In eight of Wilmot’s last ten appearances, he has committed one or more foul, including two against Stevenage in the last round of this competition. Solly March, Evan Ferguson and Kaoru Mitoma should prove problematic for the Stoke defence and it would be no surprise to see Wilmot give away a foul here with a quarter-final on the line.
We’ve also had a small poke on Kaoru Mitoma to score anytime and Brighton -1 match handicap, meaning this bet will win if the Japanese attacker scores and the Seagulls win the game by two or more goals.
Unibet and BetUK have this selection priced at 19/5 (4.8), which may not sound like the most glamorous of prices, but under Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton have the potential to blow teams away and have featured in several high scoring fixtures this season.
Since the turn of the year in the Premier League, Brighton have beaten Liverpool 3-0 and Everton 4-1, as well as turning over Middlesbrough 5-1 away from home in the FA Cup third round. Kaoru Mitoma scored the winner in the last round and after a goal in five of his last nine appearances, he looks a good prospect to find another here against a Stoke side who have been inconsistent this season.
