Southampton vs. Leicester Betting Tips: Two player fouls angles for crunch clash
Saturday evening's Premier League action takes place on Sky Sports Main Event with a 5:30pm kick off as Leicester travel to St Mary's Stadium where they take on Southampton in what could be a crucial relegation battle.
Dean Woodward has scrutinised the Player Fouls Markets to produce a couple of doubles. Full justifications and prices can be viewed below.
Sitting rock bottom of the Premier League table, things didn’t get any better for Southampton as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by League Two side Grimsby Town on Wednesday evening.
Two key players for the Saints in Che Adams and Mohammed Salisu continued to be sidelined in midweek due to injury and both remain doubts for the Leicester bout this weekend. Mislav Orsic will be hopeful of retaining his place in the starting XI although may be dropped back to the bench with Mohamed Elyounoussi back on the left flank.
After two Premier League wins in a row against Aston Villa and Tottenham, back-to-back defeats at the hands of Manchester United and Arsenal were followed up in midweek by a defeat to lower league opposition in the FA Cup, as Leicester lost 2-1 to Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
Currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table but only three points from the relegation zone, every point will be crucial if they are to fight for Premier League safety.
A huge loss looks likely again for the Foxes with James Maddison missing out in midweek and will be assessed in the days leading up to the game. Youri Tielemans is also confirmed out for the Southampton game, another huge loss for Brendan Rodgers missing arguably his best two players in very much winnable fixture.
Southampton vs Leicester Tips
A market that has been proving successful in recent trials and punters are finding very fun is the player fouls market – and we have found a very solid double to get stuck into.
Priced up as short as even money with Betfair and Paddy Power, over 2/1 with Unibet on this double looks like it holds some good value when we dig into their foul numbers.
James Ward-Prowse wasn’t a consistent fouler towards the start of the season, but that looks to have changed significantly in recent months. Across his last 12 starts in all competitions, he has had a foul in 10 of those matches with a total of 23 fouls (average 1.9 per game).
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been a steady foul committer across the season but has also seen a huge increase in recent weeks. He has now registered a foul in nine of his last 10 matches, 17 in total (average 1.7 per game).
Combining these two selections that have now landed in 10 of the last 11 starts and 9 of the last 10 starts looks insane value at odds of 21/10 which implies a 32% chance of landing.
With such huge value found in backing the single fouls for both of these midfielders, its hard not to have a dabble on the more expansive lines.
Taking both players to register two or more fouls at Betfair/PaddyPower gives us a whopping 9/1 shot.
James Ward-Prowse's average of 1.9 per game across his last 12 starts has seen him register two or more on seven occasions (58%), and there's a similar average for Kiernan Desbury-Hall registering two or more on six of his last 10 starts (60%).
