South Africa vs. Netherlands Betting Tips: Two bets for Tuesday's Cricket World Cup match
The 2023 Cricket World Cup got its first shock of the tournament on Sunday when Afghanistan humbled world champions England.
The Netherlands will be have gained some inspiration from that performance and will be hoping to slow down an on-fire South African outfit.
Matt Banks is on hand to preview the game and pick out his best bets…
Aside from India, South Africa have been the team of the tournament so far. They have a batting line-up that’s all in good knick, dangerous new ball bowlers and two top-quality spinners, and that has led to them swatting aside Sri Lanka and Australia in their first two games.
We knew they would be dangerous heading into the tournament given the form of some of their batsmen, but their win against Australia really was a huge statement win and they are now seen as genuine contenders.
The Netherlands have been good in patches in their first two games against Pakistan and New Zealand but haven’t been able to put it all together and have looked pretty outmatched against high-quality opposition, while they look like they’re really going to struggle against spin throughout the tournament.
In Bas de Leede and Colin Ackermann, they have two match-winners in their side and their team is littered with South African-born cricketers that will want to get one over their country of birth.
South Africa vs Netherlands Tips
Rassie van der Dussen has a completely ridiculous record in ODI cricket, averaging 57.4 in his 51 games in the format.
He plays the anchor role in this team, steadily accumulating runs while the heavy artillery of Quentin de Kock, Aidan Markram and David Miller blast it from the other end and he is extremely hard to get out.
This kind of game will be perfect for him against weaker opposition and he’ll look to get a big score.
Bas de Leede has proved himself to be one of the best players in this Dutch setup with match-winning performances across the qualifiers to get them here.
Needing a win against Scotland to keep their hopes of making the tournament, de Leede scored 123 off 92 balls to secure victory and wrote himself into Dutch cricketing folklore.
He was by far the Netherlands’ best player against Pakistan in the opener and will prove his class again here, keeping his team’s innings together.
