Sheffield United v Wolves Tips: Masked Mexican to hit the target in South Yorkshire

Sheffield United host Wolves on Wednesday tea time in a game where a win for the Blades would be their third consecutive home victory in the Premier League for the first time since 1993. Wilder’s side currently sit ninth in the table, just four points behind Wolves in sixth.
Both sides still have plenty to play for with Wolves still being given an 8% chance of qualifying for the Champions League, with their odds of 12/1 available in the top-four betting. The boys from the Black Country also have a chance to knock up their fourth consecutive away win, which would be the first time they have done so in the top flight since all the way back in 1980.
Wolves should be at full strength for this one with no injury worries, however it is very possible that Adama Traore will drop to the bench after being ineffective in the 2-0 defeat at home to Arsenal on Saturday.
Wednesday could see a welcome return to the Sheffield United starting line up for Jack O’Connell who came off the bench for 35 minutes against Burnley last time out. John Lundstram, John Fleck and Luke Freeman will all be sidelined for this due to injuries.
Having a look at the match prices, the visitors have been made the 11/10 favourites by the majority of bookmakers with the draw available at 2/1. William Hill are currently top price 3/1 for a Sheffield United win which does look quite generous for a team that convincingly beat Spurs 3-1 in their last home fixture. Another reason for the short price on Wolves could possibly be due to their exceptional away form this year and were the league table to be based on away fixtures they would currently be third! The game is live on SkySports Premier League and kicks off at 6 pm.
I managed to land a 40/1 shout on the Spurs v Everton game on Monday and I’ll be hoping these three football tips can provide us some more profit as the season draws to a close. My first selection here is for Ruben Neves to have 1 or more shots on target at 6/4 with PaddyPower. I think this is a tough one to call in terms of result with Wolves looking a little short for my liking hence having a delve into the shots on target markets for this one.
After Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota nobody averages more shots per game for Wolves than Ruben Neves. One of the most technically gifted players in the league, his shooting and range of passing has been superb over the last couple of seasons. He averages 1.5 shots per game and to back that up he’s had five shots in his last three matches.
I felt a bit aggrieved after backing Neves to have a shot on target against Arsenal on Saturday. The 23-year-old had two shots on goal that were both destined to be on target but were unfortunately blocked by Arsenal defenders in one of their best performances under Mikel Arteta. I’m back in with Neves to have a shot on target for this one and with Coral having it priced at 13/10 and Skybet at 11/8 I think the 6/4 is a backable price.
Next up I’ve gone for an 11/2 double on both Raul Jimenez and Sander Berge to have one or more shots on target. Jimenez has been a breath of fresh air for Wolves fans this season, he’s become their record top scorer in a Premier League season netting 15 goals with another nine coming in other competitions. The masked Mexican averages 3.3 shots per game with 1.3 of those being on target, which gives me plenty of confidence that he should land one here at Bramall Lane.
I’ve been impressed with Sander Berge since he arrived in South Yorkshire and he was awarded Man of the Match in the recent home game against Spurs where he bagged himself a goal and assist. Berge to have a shot on target has landed in his last two games and I think the 11/4 available for him to do so again looks a cracking price. In his most recent three matches, which are two starts and an appearance off the bench, Berge has managed a total of six shots and by putting him together with Jimenez, we’ve got ourselves a nice little 11/2 double from those boys at Betfair.
It’s nice to bring out the trumpet and have a good old blow every now and again and that’s what I’ve been doing since landing a 40/1 Same Game Multi on Monday night. The longshot for this once is priced at 60/1 with PaddyPower for both McBurnie and Jimenez to have a shot on target with Norwood and Moutinho to be carded.
I’ve touched on Raul Jimenez and his impressive numbers for my second selection for this game and once again I’m including him in this one. Now 29, Jimenez has matured nicely and I see so much clever play and positioning in from him. He’s a striker who I feel only needs one chance in a game and I’m happy to throw him into this one.
Next up we’ve got Sheffield United’s Scottish International Oli McBurnie to have shot on target. He cost the blades £17.5 million which I don’t think yet he’s lived up to, however having a look at the averages for shots on target this season and nobody comes out better in the squad than the former Swansea man.
Onto the bookings and first up is Wolves’ Joao Moutinho. This one is heavily based around the price available on him to be shown a card, and at 5/1 as a single, he is very much the value selection. Having been booked seven times already in the league this season I feel he makes much more appeal than Ruben Neves who is almost half the price at 13/5 and therefore he goes straight into this Same Game Multi.
The final element of this four-pronged-punt is usual suspect Oliver Norwood. The Sheffield United workhorse has been cautioned seven times this year with no other player at the club racking up more this campaign. He’s one who’s willing to put his body on the line and looks a suitable candidate to round off this 60/1 shot.
All the best with your bets for the game and as always please make sure to gamble responsibly.
