Revealed: Nominees for the 2020/21 UEFA Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year

UEFA have revealed the three-manager shortlists in contention to win the Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year award.
Below, we take a look at the trio of bosses in each category…
Men’s Coach of the Year Nominees
Pep Guardiola (Man City)
It was another glorious campaign for Pep Guardiola who added a ninth league title to his impressive collection, which was his third Premier League crown with Man City.
The Spaniard also lifted the League Cup for the fourth consecutive season, and reached the Champions League final for the third time in his career.
Roberto Mancini (Italy)
Roberto Mancini is currently unbeaten in an incredible 34 matches, spanning three years.
This includes winning Euro 2020 at Wembley against England. The Italians held their nerve to edge the final on penalties, having previously beaten the likes of Spain and Belgium in the knockout stages.
Their brand of high-energy, positive, and technical football was simply a joy to watch.
Thomas Tuchel (PSG)
Sacked on Christmas Eve by PSG, Thomas Tuchel responded in style by taking charge of a confused and underperforming Chelsea side, whom he led to Champions League glory, an FA Cup final, and to a top-four finish.
Not bad.
He showcased his elite manager’s touch in fine style, whereas his former employers PSG ended up missing out on the league title!

Women’s Coach of the Year Nominees
Lluis Cortes (Barcelona)
There’s a reason Lluis Cortes features in our list of the top-10 manager’s we want to see back in work this season. Well, there are numerous reasons actually.
The Spaniard enjoyed a simply astounding season in charge of the Barcelona women’s team, who won a historic Primera División, Copa de la Reina and Champions League treble, which included beating Emma Hayes’ Chelsea 4-0 in the latter.
He won 33 of his 34 league games - his side smashed in a staggering 167 goals in the process - then resigned after a 9-1 demolition of Eibar.
Peter Gerhardsson (Sweden)
Peter Gerhardsson led Sweden to the final of the women’s football at the Olympics this summer, playing a dazzling brand of football which perplexed the likes of the famous US team and Australia; 3-0 and 4-2 respectively.
In the knockout-stages they toppled hosts Japan, Australia again, before agonisingly losing to Canada in the final on penalties.
Penalties aside, they’ve not been beaten since March 2020.
Emma Hayes (Chelsea)
Following a tense battle with Man City, Emma Hayes’ Chelsea scooped the Women’s Super League title after accumulating 57 points from 22 games, losing only once. It’s the fourth time Hayes has won the league in the last six seasons.
Chelsea also won the League Cup after hammering Bristol City 6-0, reached the Champions League final, while they are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup; a competition which has been delayed.
