Report: All the Stats! The Shortest and Tallest Premier League Players, Squads, Positions and Partnerships 2022/23

Of all the transfer dealings made this summer by Premier League clubs, few has come under as much scrutiny as Manchester United’s £56.7m purchase of Argentinian centre-back Lisandro Martínez from Ajax, which reunites him with his old manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Much has been made of Martínez’ height, with the Argentine responding by providing an absolute masterclass against Liverpool and can claim to as yet be unbeaten in an aerial duel thus far this season, despite that widely discussed and unfairly maligned 5ft 9inch stature (FYI, the same height as Ballon d’Or- winning, World Cup-lifting former Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro, weasels).
With such an interest in the measurements of our Premier League footballers, BettingOdds.com has gone height heavy with our latest study.
Manchester United do indeed have the Shortest Possible Centre-Back Partnership of any 2022/23 Premier League club, if Erik ten Hag pairs together summer signing Lisandro Martínez (175cm) & Axel Tuanzebe (185cm), for a total centre-back pairing of 360cm.
Contrastingly, Newcastle United have the Tallest Possible Centre-Back Partnership, when Sven Botman (195cm) & Dan Burn (201cm) are selected together, for a total of 396cm).
Everton tops the list for tallest average height of a 2022/23 Premier League squad, at 185.11cm, with Crystal Palace in second (184.32cm) and Tottenham Hotspur third (183.68cm), respectively. The shortest is Arsenal, at 181.12cm.
The tallest Premier League footballers this season are Dan Burn (CB - Newcastle United) and Fraser Forster (GK - Tottenham Hotspur), both standing at 201cm. The shortest are Tariq Lamptey (RB - Brighton & Hove Albion) and Ryan Fraser (LW - Newcastle United), with a dinky 163cm.
The Tallest Premier League XI for 2022/23 (in a fictional 4-3-3 formation) would stand at a combined 2127cm (average height of each player: 193.36cm), a mammoth 252cm more that the Shortest Premier League XI for 2022/23, which would have a total of 1875cm (average height of each player: 170.45cm)
The study has analysed all players who have featured in a 2022/23 Premier League matchday squad thus far, and as they appear on both the official club website and the official Premier League website, updated to August 25th. The data has been compiled via Transfermarkt.
The results are compiled in the following categories:
