Real Madrid vs. Valencia Betting Tips: Back Valverde to strike from outside the box

Real Madrid face Valencia in the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday evening with the game being shown live on BT Sport. We’ve picked out two bets that we think represent good value at the match that is taking place in Saudi Arabia.
Up until 2018 the Spanish Super Cup was only ever contested by two teams, but since then the format has changed to include the winners and runners-up of the Copa del Rey, as well as the winners and runners-up of La Liga.
Real Madrid have won the title 12 times since it was introduced in 1982 and winning this renewal would see them tie level with the most successful club in the competition, Barcelona with 13.
Los Blancos currently sit three points behind the Catalans in the La Liga standings after defeat to Villarreal on Saturday and will look to bounce back here.
Valencia’s last two appearances in the Spanish Super Cup have both been against Real Madrid with the most recent being in 2020 when they were beaten 3-1. Gennaro Gattuso’s men are currently 11th in La Liga having amassed 19 points, exactly half of that of their opponents on Wednesday.
Real Madrid vs Valencia Tips
As mentioned above, Real Madrid have collected double the amount of points to that of Valenca so far in the league this season and we expect their class to shine through in Saudi Arabia and are backing them on the -1 match handicap, meaning our bet will win if Real win the match by two goals or more.
Valencia have only played two league matches since the winter break over in Spain but they were beaten in both, with the latest of those being a 1-0 loss at home to Cadiz on Sunday. In total they have now won just one of their last eight in La Liga.
Despite their loss to Villarreal at the weekend we expect Carlo Ancelotti’s side to advance here to the final in a rather comfortable manner. Four of Real Madrid’s last five league victories have been by two or more goals and with Valencia only keeping one clean sheet in their last ten league matches we fancy them to score on numerous occasions.
Federico Valverde may have failed to find the net in the entire 2021/2022 season in La Liga but this season he’s certainly found his shooting boots, bagging six times in just 14 starts.
The Uruguayan has also been clinical in the Champions League this term, scoring in two of his five appearances in the Group Stage. What’s interesting to see is that of Valverde’s eight goals for Real Madrid this season, five of those have come from outside the area.
With this in mind, 10/1 for Valverde to score from outside the box on Wednesday looks generous. Bet365 are the only firm with this market up at the time of writing, so it may be worth having a shop around closer to kick-off, to check nobody else goes bigger.
