RB Leipzig v Manchester United Tips: Three bets for United's final group game

Manchester United travel to Germany on Tuesday evening knowing they need just a point to seal their place in the knockout phase of the Champions League. Our man @AnthonyEadson has three football tips for the game which can be seen live on BT Sport 2, kicking off at 8:00pm.
Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw look set to miss out through injury for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side with Edinson Cavani also a doubt. Fred is suspended for the game which could give a start for Paul Pogba after his goal at West Ham on Saturday.
Leipzig will be without French central defender Dayot Upameacno who is suspended after picking up three yellow cards in the competition. Lukas Klostermann and Konrad Laimer will also miss the game for the hosts who managed a 3-3 draw away at Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
With Leipzig needing to win the game in order to qualify, the bookmakers have made them the narrow favourites to win, priced at 6/4. The draw is available to be backed at 11/4 with an away victory for Manchester United priced at 17/10, an implied probability of 37%.
A Penalty to be awarded 1.5pts @ 7/5 Betfair, Paddy Power
Marcus Rashford to score anytime 1.5pts @ 2/1, BetVictor SkyBet
Fernandes & Poulson 1+ shot on target, Sabitzer & Telles to be carded 0.25pts @ 45/1 Paddy Power
The first of three selections I’m fancying on Tuesday evening comes in the form of a penalty to be awarded anytime in the match, priced at 7/5 with several bookmakers including both Betfair and Paddy Power.
This selection mainly comes down to the fact that referee Antonio Lahoz is taking charge of this game. In the last three games the Spaniard has officiated in the Champions League, he has given four penalties. With stats like that and Manchester United being awarded 30 penalties in all competitions since the start of last season, I’m willing to have a small play on the 7/5 that is available from betfair and Paddy Power with others such as William Hill going shorter at 6/5.
Next up I’m fancying Marcus Rashford to score anytime, available at 2/1 with Bet Victor and several other bookmakers. After five group games the Manchester United forward is the current joint top-goalscorer with six goals along with Erling Haaland and Alvaro Morata.
It’s been a remarkable year for Rashford who scored a hat-trick in just 18 minutes after coming off the bench as a substitute against Leipzig in the return fixture at Old Trafford on matchday 2. The 23-year-old scored with all three of his shots on target that evening and with six goals from nine shots on target in this season’s Champions League I’ve opted for him to score anytime once again on Tuesday.
Bruno Ferndnades and Marcus Rashford changed the game when coming on at half-time against West Ham at the weekend with the latter looking as sharp as ever on the break and getting on the scoresheet. That’s three goals in his last four games in all competitions for Rashford and it would be no surprise to see him score in what could be an open affair in Germany.
I’ve also picked out a longshot which is available with betfair or Paddy Power at around the 45/1 mark that can be made by using the Same Game Multi feature.
The first part of this Same Game Multi is for Bruno Fernandes to have one or more shots on target. Nobody at Manchester United averages more shots per game this season than Fernandes and with 10 goals already in all competitions he should notch a shot on target against Leipzig.
For Red Bull Leipzig I’ve opted for Yussuf Poulson to have one or more shots on target. The Danish forward is averaging 1.1 shots on target per game this season for Julian Nagelsmann’s side and should lead the line here for the hosts.
The first of two players I’m fancying to pick up a card in this hugely important game is Leipzig’s Marcel Sabitzer. The Austrian has already been booked once in this competition this season and picked up three in total as his side reached the semi-finals last season.
Alex Telles is looking to cement his place at left-back for Manchester United in the absence of Luke Shaw and the former Porto man was booked on nine occasions in his final season for he Portuguese giants.
It was a profitable weekend for my selections on BettingOdds.com, so let’s hope we can carry that good form through to the Champions League. Best of luck to those following and please always gamble responsibly.
