Rangers vs Fenerbahce Prediction & Lineups: Jack Butland in 10/1 fancy

Rangers have the Europa League quarter-finals well within their reach when they take on Fenerbahce at Ibrox in just under an hour's time, live at 8pm on TNT Sports 2.

The Gers conjured up a stunning 3-1 win away to Jose Mourinho's men last week and will now be eager to secure passage through to the last-8 in front of a passionate home crowd.

We've previewed the match and picked out our best bets tonight, including a 10/1 fancy in the cards market. 

Rangers may have secured a 3-1 win in Istanbul in the first leg but they were lucky to come away with a victory as Fenerbahce enjoyed the majority of possession and created more chances, winning the shot count 23-8.

A two-goal lead gives them a platform to build on and they look well placed to reach the quarter-finals, but a Fener fightback should be expected in Glasgow.

Jose Mourinho’s side will believe they are still very much in this tie and they will be looking to pile the pressure on their hosts from the off. Prior to last week’s loss, Fenerbahce were unbeaten in 18 games across all competitions and they’ve won five of their last eight away matches, drawing the other three.

Rangers haven’t lost at home in Europe since October but their results at Ibrox have dipped in recent weeks. The Light Blues have suffered three consecutive defeats in Glasgow across all competitions and Fener are a level above the three opponents who have beaten them.

The hosts should set up to defend on Thursday, taking chances on the counter when they can. With a lead to defend, those tactics won’t change much if Fener do edge ahead so backing the visitors to win on the night looks a go

Rangers will attempt to slow the game down and disrupt any Fenerbahce rhythm whenever they can, and taking that into account the 10/1 on offer for keeper Jack Butland to pick up a card has a chance here, particularly if the visitors are still chasing the tie deep into the second half.

The 31-year-old stopper has three yellow cards across all competitions this season and he will look to keep hold for as long as possible whenever the ball does end up in his possession.

If he does adopt such tactics there is a reasonable chance he’ll end up in the referee’s notebook for delaying the game and 10/1 looks a fair price for a booking for the Rangers keeper.
