Rangers vs. PSV Betting Tips: Two tips including a potentially overpriced goalscorer for the visitors

Rangers welcome PSV Eindhoven to Ibrox on Tuesday evening in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier. After a profitable preview last week when the Gers defeated Union Saint-Gilloise, @AnthonyEadson returns with his best bets for the action.
It’s van Bronckhorst against van Nistelrooy as both sides look to book their place in the Champions League group stages. You have to go back to the 2010/2011 season for the last time Rangers reached the group stage and they are the slight favorites with the bookies to get the win here in the first leg against PSV, priced at 31/20 with bet365.
The pressure was on for Rangers last week after a 2-0 defeat in the first leg to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. Goals from Antonio Colak, Malik Tillman and James Tavernier turned the tie around with Ibrox rocking in what was an intimidating atmosphere for the visitors.
These two teams met in the Europa League back in 2010 when the Dutch side came out 1-0 winners on aggregate in the last-16. PSV arrive on an 11 game unbeaten streak and defeated a strong opposition in the previous round when knocking out Monaco 4-3 across two legs.
Ianis Hagi, Filip Helander and Kemar Roofe are all confirmed absentees for the hosts, with Alfredo Morelos still not at full fitness and likely to start the game from the bench. PSV also have several players sidelined including Carlos Vinicius, Mauro Junior and Yorbe Vetessen.
Rangers vs PSV Tips
The first leg of a European tie can often be a low scoring cagey affair but I’m predicting quite the opposite in Glasgow on Tuesday, and have decided to have a one point play on both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in the match.
Red Star Belgrade, Braga, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig all failed when attempting to beat Rangers at Ibrox last season, but after knocking out Monaco last week, PSV will provide a stiff test for van Bronckhorst and co.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side have started the season really well and have beaten FC Emmen 4-1 and Go Ahead Eagles 5-2 so far in the Eredivisie. They also turned over Ajax 5-3 in the Dutch Super Cup. In total their five matches have yielded 27 goals and with an attack in such prolific form, I can’t see Rangers keeping them out, despite their defensive resilience.
I’ll also be having a little tickle on Luuk De Jong to score anytime in the match which looks a shade too big in the market at 11/4 with both Betfair and Paddy Power. The 31-year-old scored 94 goals in 159 appearances for the club between 2014 and 2019 before making the switch to Sevilla.
De Jong has now returned for his second stint in Eindhoven and was on the scoresheet at the weekend in the 5-2 thrashing away at Go Ahead Eagles. Despite only being on the pitch for 46 minutes, De Jong still managed to let off six shots and he can find the net once again in what could be an entertaining contest.
